I like yur build. I really like the cut out on the bed for the spair tire. I was on Craigs list the other day a I found a bed the same color and style as yours. For only 300.00 I am picking it up Sat.

Alright time to pick some tires.

Looking on the site here for ideas I ran across another fella that basically has the same build (which is good because I had some questions and the thread had some answers)

The truck from that thread was running 225/55 17

To get a comparable wheel i was looking at the Wheel Vintiques series 12 as they look pretty close to stock.

17" of that series are EXPENSIVE....

so I started comparing tire sizes.

These are 29" tires



The tires on the truck from the thread are 26.75 tall
Looked at the tires on my car... they looked decent 225/55/16 at 25.75 tall

I have some 20" Coys with 235/35 20's on there which are 26.6 tall.

Had to let air out of the back tires to sit level lol



That being said I have decided on 225/60/16 Headed to Summit Racing tonight to grab the wheels.... and get some Mexican food. That seems to be a common tire size so about to call local tire shop to see what I can grab.

That is a really short tire.

I am a little confused by your comment lolife. According to 1010tires.com calculator that puts the tires at 26.62 inches tall with 5.31" of sidewall. The tires on tcb-1's truck which I believe you are familiar with were 26.74 with 4.87" sidewall. These tires are over half an inch taller than the ones on my car which are stock for that car and within an 1/8 of a truck that has already been down this road.

Is the calculator wrong?

I don't know what kind of look you are going for.
If you are after a short tire like TCB-1 had,... that is fine.
I bet those tires are 26" tall.

Well I pulled the trigger...

Took a little advice from lolife.

Went to Summit...



Picked up 3 16x7 Wheel Vintique series 12 Smoothies for the front and the tire carrier
and 2 16x8 for the rear to get a little wider tire in the back



Also picked up 5 caps.

Fronts only came with 4 inch back spacing. So not much choice there. Rears are 4.5 inches. Rear end is stock so I assume its a 12 bolt like my 60s series trucks had. Not sure what ratio is in it at the moment.

great progress, looking forward to seeing the new wheel/tire package mounted up. You unknowingly provided a decent shot of how/where these rear bumper brackets are mounted on the frame for this year truck, been trying to find one here for some time, thanks and keep up the great work.

So today got out there for a bit. I had just thrown the notch in before but today I was able to do the final touches on it. There was alot of work into what looks like barely any progress.





Tomorrow pending weather I am hoping to get the air lines ran and functional.

Battling the rain and a hangover... got some done this weekend. Unfortunately it is dark now so pics will suck but the air setup is in. Front still needs the air lines hooked up and need to clean up the wiring, ie shorten the lines etc but here is a sneak peak.

Debating getting DJM tubular arms for the front to drop it more up there. Will need to make up my mind soon so I can set up the e3 levelling system.

Waiting on some parts various vendors. Going with tube arms up front to get it a little lower. Will most likely slap in the motor and trans today work permitting.

DJM arms combined with drop spindles is a big no no.
You will have scrub line issues with that pocket hanging so low.

Cups are going bye bye. Arms are porterbuilt. Borrowing them from my burb. Waiting on the setup to use them wit the factory crossmember.

Found a RAT in the engine bay this evening. Will post pics of it in a few.
