Exclamation Wiring Question

I have a 5.3 in a 66 chevy truck. I am using a fuse block from CURRENT Performance, I have used the same fuse block in another swap. Here is the problem, if I remove the ignition power relay and I turn the key to the on position, I have power to the relay socket on the battery side and on the pink/black wire coming from the 12v source, as soon as I install the relay in the socket, I do not have power on the pink/black wire, I have had this problem before, but it fixes on its own, so I do not know what to do. Any help please
Thanks

Re: Wiring Question

hello. the problem may be how Current Perfomance wires their relays. i had a similar/same problem with the stand alone fuse box they sell. the product is nice and neat, but you may have to rewire the relays and fuses to get power from the ignition relay. thats what i did. i called the owner jared and questioned him on how to wire relays. he said it should run (it didnt)but thats was b4 i rewired it. i ened up cutting/splicing the entire relay/fuse box just to suit my needs. to me, that was a waste of $120 bucks. now i buy my relay /fuse box from the u pull it yard and rewire them myself. when i buy a product it should work. here is an example.

Re: Wiring Question

Thanks dec010974, the weird thing is that it was running before, it did the same thing a few times, but this time I cannot get it to work. This is what I did just now, I remove the ignition relay and use a wire to rig it, so I get power to the other fuses but it seems the computer is not doing anything, also, I use a test light at the purple wire coming from the starter and the testlight turns green. So I disconnect the purple wire at the starter and try it again, but nothing, now I am wondering if I fry the computer, is there a way to find out if the computer is dead, I do have HPTunner.

Thanks again

Re: Wiring Question

if you want, PM your number. i will call you. when i rewired the fuse box, i deleted the starter relay. i saw no reason for having a starter relay. also i wire my relays/fuse boxes such as: 87- power on accessories: 30-fused battery power:85-signal to trigger on the relay +/-:86-conect to 12v swithced power or gronund opposite of the signal. i hope this helps. current performance to the best of my knowledge is not wired this way. thats y i rewired my fuse box. good luck. clark

Re: Wiring Question

Thanks dec010974 for calling me, Im testing all the circuits and I found that on the AC ralay, 87 is power from battery, and 30 is grounded, and some on the fans relay that are supposed to be grounded are not, so I guess I just got a bad fuse box. Also, I think my fuel pump is fried.

Re: Wiring Question

mlevario99, i guess, by current performance standards, there are different ways to wire relays. this is my rule of thumb and it has never failed me:
30-fused battery power
87-turns on acc.(fan, fuel Pump, etc)
85-signal/trigger wire (could be +/-)
86-is constant (+/-) opposite of 85

lsx pcm sends a ground (-) signal(trigger) to turn on electric fans. it will send a (+)(trigger) to turn on the fuel pump. this means that 85-the trigger will be (-) for the electric fans and (+) for the fuel pump trigger and 86- will be the constant (+) for electric fans and a constant (-) for the fuel pump. once this signal comes from the pcm, the accessoriy will come on. i hopes this helps. ill give you a call later tonight. take care and keep wrenchin'. clark.

Re: Wiring Question

Thanks dec010974, I'm a little confused, I'm using a relay socket to do some testing, if I plug the 85 to power and I insert the relay I get power on the 86, I'm using a test light, so I ground the test light to a ground source and the tip of the test light to the 86 and turns on, if 85 is power 86 shuld be ground to magnetized, but I don't hear any click on the relay

Re: Wiring Question

what did you connect #30 and #87? if you connected the raly as mentioned above, you should be fine.
