Well I was looking threw to get some Fiberglass parts. Came to a website. And foudn the Following. A 5'' Cowl Hood....2 Inner and Outer Fenders....1 Rollpan..and One Front Bumper. To get all those w/out Shipping will cost me about 1200. And all there weight put together is under 100lbs. Thats crazy...That will prolly drop me a second in the 1/4 right there HAHA. But I am gunna start saving right now. No lie. since we are doin the new engine....Wat else will I buy haha. Thank the Lord for Fiberglass!!!

I have seen too many glass hoods fly apart going down the highway to ever trust them.

a good quality fiberglass hood should have no problemswithstanding dauly use. is the website by any chance www.usbody.com? i've heard lots of good things about them if it is.

BTW, 100# MAY get you .1 second, a full second is nowhere near a realistic guess for 100#

even so, in order to get a full second, the weight of the stock parts would have to be 900# more than the fiberglass that they're being replaced by to get a 1 second gain in et.

Tyler, i'd be very weary of those parts. i have heard a lot of bad things about their quality and fit. the "decent amount of time" off your ET is going to descerly disapoint you. especially with a $1200 investment. you could buy a good set of heads and a cam for $1200, and easily shave 2 seconds if your combo is right.

usbody.com has all your fiberglass needs... i was lookin on there, and your WHOLE body of your truck can be fiberglass buyin the parts from there, the whole cab, dash, bed, hood, fenders, bumpers, etc, all fiberglass,
of course it comes with a price.. i didnt add them all up, but you'll be well into the $1x,xxx's..

i want that fiberglass bed they offer though..
only 2 grand and all your rust issues will be gone

but then you have problems of cracking, fiberglass becoming weak, fitment problems, etc..
but atleast no mo' rust!

-Jeff

And I'll need more than 1200 for my heads haha. My is gunna be 700 lol. But anywyas.....If yall say the site I was on isnt the best for Fiberglass parts then I'll go with somethign else. Cuz...I kno if ur goin Fiberglass....get the best or dont get at all right.

I wouldn't want to use a fiberglass bed on a truck....it would be very hard to hook up....even with a metal bed over the rear tires they still hook up like crap....with the 'glass hood hooking up would be pretty hard unless you had huge sticky tires and a locker.

Just my opinion

People need to remember that trucks are indeed that... TRUCKS. Yes you can make them go fast, but you need a whole lotta HP/TQ and you have to do a whole bunch to get them to hook up in the rear. Lightening up the rear is not my idea of better track times.

If you want a faster truck, I second the motion of a new set of heads and cam. If done for the right application you can get much more than a second off your et.

And yes, if you dropped something like 800-1000lbs off your ride you could in theory lose 1 sec off your ET, but with a truck, my guess is the only thing that you would lose is traction.

That's quite a bit more than fenders and a hood. The purpose of going with 'glass fenders and hood is to make for a better weight transfer to the rear wheels.
