Very nice work Alan!! What brand epoxy primmer do you use. I was using DP-90 but it got SO expensive on a budget.

I perfer DP90 as well, but since I'm not paying the bill we went with the Omni version. I did some searching and to me it was a 50/50 split of satisfaction of either product.

You might be right.

Well, I don't know how long it would take others to do this repair on the right cowl. It took a little over 4 hours to make the three patches and weld them in and cleaned up. Just trying to figure out if my speed is in line with the market. The pics posted in the last post were of the first piece. the pics in this post are the last 2 pieces.

Re: Greg65 build thread

It's been a while since I have used either DP90 or the Omni epoxy primer, but I have had a couple guys tell me they think the Omni epoxy is the old DP, prior to the LF version.

Yes all prayers are welcome. It will be like Christmas morning when I see it with paint. It will make all the work over the years worth it.

Re: Greg65 build thread

progress pics

Left cowl patch done. I paint the back side of the patches to help reduce rust down the road.

The bottom of the windshield patch was done by bending a 90 then clamping it in place then hammering it to make the contour.

Re: Greg65 build thread

I got a chance to run up and check out my cab yesterday.Alan has made a lot of progress in a short time. He still has some work left to do but it is a thousand times better than when we pulled the cab out of that chicken house. Here is pictures from when I brought it home and three from yesterday.

It as dented up pretty bad. It was less work to swap it out than it would have been to straighten the original piece.

Re: Greg65 build thread

No problem at all. After removing two roof panels I had become pretty good with my spot weld cutter. It takes a little time but in my case it was worth it.
