I've been saving this idea for a conversion for my truck for some time now. So I'm browsing the electric converted vehicles for some ideas on how to. Let me tell you the day of a gasoline engine is about over with. Now all I need is a bit more know how and a lot more money. These vehicles are very close in our futures and it won't be long before someone does it to a squarebody pickup. If anyone else has an electric conversion idea for our trucks lets see them.

Here's a link of what's possible. Way too cool. I want one now!

Keep in mind they say in the video the car's value is about $200k

450ft.lbs of torque the video says, and I know a little about electric cars (I'm an electrical engineer). That torque is available NOW. Electric motors develop 100% torque at zero RPM.

I had a friend that worked on an electric F1 racecar, and he said the torque was so massive and so sudden that they were constantly snapping driveshafts.

Cool rides, but I just cant see an electric vehicle being "cool"... personally i could never drive anything without some "rumble" to it. a DD is one thing, but God help us if we can't enjoy the gassers once in a while.

We are not getting rid of engines anytime soon. Oil companies would never let that happen. They are too big.

I love how people want electric cars to help the environment... but unless you are using renewable energy to charge the battery it's still bad for the environment.

Two of my friends have or built electric cars. One is a Ford Ranger. Put alot of money into it and still I'm curious to see mileage. My other buddy has a Subuaru that he bought at auction. Now it gets around alot better than the ranger. The trade off is weight. Takes batteries to make these babies go and batteries are heavy, but they sure are fun.!

I Love it, if it became affordable I would Definitely convert my Dually or one of my other truck's.
I agree with some of the other's, there will be internal combustion engine's on the road for years to come.
but the electric car/truck is go'n to common and affordable soon, also there is technology to carge batterys with out fossil fuel's.

I'm not sold on electric vehicles just yet. Mostly because still there is pollution. The electric plants that produce the electricity emit their own pollution that is greater than that of my truck. Think about it. So this is more or less a bandaid. What is really needed is a renewable energy that can work within the boundries of our combustiable engines. To be honest one reason electric cars haven't really taken off is because most look like crap boxes. The few that have come out in the last few years are better than before but still. Plus there's a certain stigma that comes with an electric vehicle too. Plus they're expensive for what they are.

And the batteries are both toxic and very limited lifespan.

Can someone define renewable energy? Aside from unreliable sun or wind power, how do you renew energy.....specifically...... on a world wide level?
