front coil springs once again

I have picked up several front coil springs and cut, trimed and modified the spring buckets at the top to take a regular spring instead of a tapered spring and still not to happy with any of them. Who will build a set of front springs for my truck off of the weights etc.... I am sick of trying this one and that one. SORRY GUYS!!!! I know you all are tired of my spring junk too!

For the ones that are wondering the front of the truck moves around alot. When you launch "if it launches" it transfers great to the rear tires but when the truck settles down the front end is moving around alot side to side (bobbing). After the pass is made and you get on the brake the front end dives to the ground as if the the front k-member is going to hit the ground. It is a hand full to drive for sure. I have put the truck up after our last race because it got bent out of shape real bad at the 330. My wife says no more until I fix the problem. Thanks for any and all input

Re: front coil springs once again

I had a set made at Coil Spring Specialties. Spoke to Kevin and told him I raced the Truck and wanted a spring to help with weight transfer. Spring ended up 14 3/4 long .660 dia. and 455# , old spring was 12 1/2 " .750 and 810# drop spring and no transfer. My front end weight is 2,115#. Have made 3 trips to the track with new spring and drives real good on top end.

Thanks I'll give them a call and see what we can come up with. My front weight is 2234 lb with me in it ready for a pass.

What kind of spring are you running on the front? I need the spring to be 11" compressed at that 2234 lb.

Coil Spring Specialties made my front springs, also. It took two tries to get them right, but the ones that are in there now work well. I'm sorry, but I don't have any of the specs on these springs, as this has been several years ago since I had them made. I do remember them being easy to work with, and they made the second pair and sent them to me without any problems. The truck drives and handles well, both on the street and at the track, transfers weight well, and doesn't do anything scary upon decel.

Are you able to ride someone with you or does it just over power the spring and the front of the truck just hit the ground? This is also one of my problems and I miss being able to take a bud around the block.

Yep, I drive it all over the place without any of those issues. Heck, I've had both my son and a friend of his both in the truck and not had any problems, and my son is around 190 lbs and his buddy is around 240 or so.

Re: front coil springs once again

It has been so long ago when these were made that I don't remember for sure, but I'm wanting to say that they were around $100.00 for the pair. It took them two tries to get them right, and they didn't charge me but for one pair.
