1963 spare tire mount fender
Im wondering if someone could answer a question for me so I'm looking for a spare tire fender and want to know the difference bectween the long bed and short bed fender I understand the mount is a lil different but what is the reason? And does the actual fender itself differ in size or style? When long or short bed?

Very nice aerotruk63. Do you have the spare tire carrier illustration for the long bed.

Not that I've seen. Gm will supply a drawing for reference to lead you to the group then
the part number. They do not have every application illustrations.

Re: 1963 spare tire mount fender
The spare tire carrier mounts through the fender on a shortbed and does not touch the fender on a long bed. Here are a couple of pics I found on a previous posts and my attempt to modifiy a carrier I bought on ebay.

Here's an original long bed mount-
And a short bed- The first pic is a 66.The second pic is a 65.Note the differences in the fender cut-outs,and the height of the mounts. Mike. Last edited by 100%Chevy; 02-15-2013 at 10:08 PM. |

Thanks aero and 100% Chevy so it's still just that mount that differs though? How about the fender it's self is that different from long to short?

Re: 1963 spare tire mount fender
Yes there is a difference in the fenders. Note in 100%'s photos. The cut out in the long bed doesn't have a hole and the cut out is more forward. The short bed has the hole and the cut out is higher up on the fender.
