Have you ever forgotten some of the parts you have laying around?
Something I found in my garage...This is a never used Jack Set I bought a few years ago. I think I paid about $100-125.

Do that with books, manuals and brochures a lot. Or worse I'll not be able to find something I need and have buy another.

Oh, man, where do I begin? I solved some of the problem by scrapping over a half-ton of 'stuff', mostly motorcycle and European car parts, when I moved out west. Just yesterday I found the Honda distributor I got, just in case I would need it. The wife's Civic wouldn't start, and, sure enough, it was the usual culprit- the distributor. I had totally forgotten the damned thing, until I was rummaging around in the current drawerful of Mercedes parts. I remebered thinking I would put it up on CL, pick up some cash, quite awhile back. Glad I forgot about that plan, and even happier that I got her beloved Honda back on the road. So far, haven't 'lost' any truck parts. So far...

I hate it when i know i have something and JUST CAN'T FIND IT!
hell i listed square body hooks last week then put them away and it took me over a hour too find them yesterday must be s.t.mI have parts in my loft I havent seen in years just too much in the way I tried getting too some of it but now its all clutterd again with mostly new truck parts for my build also having 5 slightly differnt of the same part and still dont have the one you need.(pulleys come to mind here)

Found a Vortec intake in the barn last weekend. I didn't really forget about it but did not remember it was there. It wasn't something that I was looking for when I got it originally. Someone gave it to me so it just went on the shelf. Now I have a plan to use it. Definatley work better than the Super Victor that I did buy.
X3 on the cant find it when you need it. I had to go buy new nozzles for the sand blaster the other weekend. Sure enough I just found the ones I had. Right where I stuck them so they wouldn't get lost. Thinking is what gets me in trouble! I figure CRS is going to catch up sooner than later. |

We've moved enough that I've got a decent handle on my inventory, sometimes I surprise myself though. A couple of years back I went up to my Dad's horse barn. No horses, just his Ford 8N with a bush hog and some engine blocks, wheels, and other large crap. In the corner was a stack of 4-5 bumpers, all of which I thought were crumpled or rusted. For some reason, I dug through the stack and one caught my eye. It was a 67-72 fleetside chrome bumper and didn't appear to have any damage. I had been rear-ended twice so there were two other bent bumpers just like it. I pulled it out and hosed it off, and I'll be danged...the sticker was still on the back side, bolts had never been tightened on it. It was completely un-used. I polished it and it sold for $100 on Craigslist. Between Dad and I we never figured how/when and why it was in the barn.

I can't find the pictures of the girl I dated after my wife left. I swear she found them and did something with them. She was jealous even after she was gone! Oh,this is about truck parts. Well I hid the pics in my shop and unless they are with all the parts I can't find or it never happened.

After seeing this thread I went out in the shop and opened a few drawers. Waddayaknow... I found a bunch of engine brackets and bolt ons for all kinds of GM vehicles I've had over the years.

i never lose anything unless i put it somewhere i think i can find it. not parts, but i lost my Daytona pepsi 400 tickets once because i put them where i thought i would know where they were, turned the house upside down, blamed wife for throwing them away, she blamed me. finally remembered where i had put them the morning we were leaving for the race so i had to hear it all the way to Daytona.
