Fair price for a 68 3/4 4x4?

Found a decent project. Its a 68
Gmc 4x4. Not rusty except one rocker. Had a small dent
In the rear Corner really small though. Ochre paint with patina. 4 speed. 3 rows of seats. New tires. He is asking 3500 but will take an offer. I was gonna offer 2000-2500. Fair or not? Matt in socal

If one rocker is rusty take a good light and a cardboard creeper with you next time you go over there and crawl around underneath. Look very close at the cab supports where the body mounts are, the inner rockers, and the floorboard. Also check above the windshield inside and outside. If you see any rust spots or small bubbles on the inside it will most likely be rusted through when you clean it up. Open the hood and check along the top of the firewall and around the heater box. If it is clean in those areas 2k - 3k wouldn't be a bad price. If it has rust in one or more of those areas then 1.5k - 2k

Just my 2¢ worth.

Here in Illinois it would be worth even more than his $3500 asking. Does it run? I paid $5000 + shipping for my'68 (non 4x4) with rust in pass rocker and inner door bottom from Washington state.
