Re: who does the axle redrill?
Any CNC Machine shop could do it, just a matter of finding one that is willing to do "odd jobs" that are not standard CNC type work. I know my local place always does "odd things" for me with no problems.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
Well really any machine shop, they don't need CNC for that, they just need your specs. Adapter plate could could be an option.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
I wish I could find a shop in the Houston area that could re-drill mine to 5 bolt. The shops I have called say because of the 6-bolt pattern they won't re-drill the axles....safety issues.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
I would contact Strange Engineering and see what a set of super street axles would cost, ther is too much liability to re drill. I've had much better service with other companies than Moser.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
I can't believe they turned you down for safety issues sounds more like they just didn't want to do it. People cut and weld axles all the time, it just needs to be done by a pro. Maybe look online for custom diff builders and get their opinion?

Re: who does the axle redrill?
I had my '65 Suburban axles done through Moser. They "filled and drilled" my originals to a 5 lug pattern, back in the mid '90s and they're holding OK. No safety problems or isues here

Re: who does the axle redrill?
If you use a 71-72 brake drum on your re-drilled axles, the center hub diameter will also have to be turned down to match the hole in the brake drum.
The other option,... would be to also drill the 5-lug pattern in the 6-lug brake drum.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
Try Mike Minette at
Minette Enterprises 11586 Reeder Rd, Dallas, TX 75229 972-241-7184 (call first) Mike has not done axles for me, but he is well respected in D/FW. We have been using him for over 25 years. Let me know if he does drill your axles.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
He did the axles for my old roomates 69 back in the 80's. 6-lug to car 5x4.75 pattern & turned the hub down slightly.

Re: who does the axle redrill?
Minette Enterprise, Dallas Tx. can redrill your axles. We just did a set of axles and rotors for Aron at Gas Monkey Garage. We also change lug patterns on aluminum wheels and hubcentrically bore wheel centers.

I am curious... what about cutting a wheel center loose to alter back spacing? Southwest Wheel used to do this once upon a time but said no the last time I referred someone there.
