Static or bags "question of the day"

I am trying to decide if I want to go with something like ECE 4.5/6 drop or maybe RideTech level 1 bags. My truck is going to be a weekend cruiser during the summer months. I would like to run 20x8.5/ 20x10 coy c-5 wheels, as far as tire I like 265/50 front and 295/45 rear like member JWall has on his truck. Let me know what your opinions are ( do's and dont's) . I have always had jacked up 4x4's, and jeeps. This lowering thing is new to me... Thanks, Jason

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

I have had both static and now my truck is bagged and I am beyond pleased..

* Perfect Ride

* Adjustable

* If you like lowered trucks you cant beat the stance of a vehicle being bagged

The best about being static dropped is just get in and drive. the ride is good but no where near as nice as a bag truck. Bagged truck you could run into air leaks compressor failure etc but with todays technology I am not concerned at all.

here are two picts with both set ups for comparison..

Good luck with your descision..

You have an awesome truck!!! I just don't want to have 8 grand in air ride setup. I have went waaaaaay over my budget on the build already. That's why I was thinking the RideTech level 1 along with drop spindles in front and maybe a block in the rear with the bags. If I'm not on the right track someone chime in....

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

you know jason i have been contemplating that same exact question. I thought i had my mind made up that i would do a 4/6 static drop and call it a day, but then big_al always has to throw his picture of sylvester in the mix and i think twice of saving up to get air ride thanks big_AL for keeping me on the fence a lil longer.

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

What's wrong with going static now, and IF the funds present themselves bagging in the future?
You can keep the spindles, panhard, blocks and relocaters; so all you're really out is 2 sets of springs.
Is that not correct?

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

Big_Al_71 your truck looks VERY awesome bagged with the new wheels.

Not sure a bagged truck would look all that great without 20's so better figure those and tires into your budget too if your going bagged. I'd love to someday but for me it'll be static to start.

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

I already plan on 20's whether I go static or bags. I'm just worried about a one shot deal with springs. Just say $800-$1000 , install the kit and think its to high or to low and then I have to purchase different spring and try to sell the others. That's my concern. There's not a lot of these trucks around here in WV , especially dropped so I'm kind of on my own. In other words I'm relying on you guys for help and info. Thanks, Jason

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

I put new drop springs on my truck, drove about 100 miles before I took everything apart and put PB components and bags. Mainly for the better ride everyone talks about and I kept staring at the trucks posted above. I'm happy with my decision.

Holy cow those are some HUGE tires to run in the front. 30.5" diameter? Im running 27" tires on mine in front. Most people run a 255/35R20 in front and thats also 27", or a 255/40R20 thats 28".

So much for that comment about a bagged truck not looking good if it doesn't have 20's!

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

Although Im new to c10's, I'm familiar with air ride,as my main summer car is on air.

I did all the work, everything is custom (no kits available), FBSS, and I'm maybe $1300 in.

There is no reason you can't put together a basic bag system for under $1500 for a truck that has the easiest conversion you could ever ask for

About the huge tires in the front, look at JWall's album of his black truck. I think that baby looks badass with enough tire to fill the fender. I don't want to have the "rubber band' look on the rims. JMO

Re: Static or bags "question of the day"

I am running a static drop on my burb and I am very happy with the ride. It handles in corners really well. I also had the front end completely rebuilt and added an ECE sway bar.

I agree with Big Al...bag it! I have bags on my truck...first bag rod ever...and I love it!
