Help With 67 c10 Information

We have just purchased a 1967 c10 to restore and have discovered some pretty wild information about its unique build. The truck appears to be completely factory and untouched. This truck is a factory power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, air conditioned custom cab truck. Where the cunfusion begins is with the lug pattern. It is a five lug truck. This seemed rare to me because most, if not all, I have paid attention to were 6 lug. The next thing that is very unique is the door panel design. It has a floral like inlay in the doorpanels which I have never seen before. And the final thing that is confusing about the truck is the engine. The casting number that we can find on the engine are just above the bell housing on the block. The casting is 3970010 which would indicate that it is a 327 or 350. But the info that I have seen about these trucks is that they were not offered with a 327 engine until 68. I cannot see any casting numbers on the front passenger side of the block which leads me to believe it is a pre-1970 block. And as I said before, it looks very original and untouched inside and out so I was curious to know if there was any possibility of the 327 option being special ordered in 1967 and any addition info about the other options on this beautiful truck. Check out the photos attached.

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

Can't see any pics, but the disc brakes and 5 lug were added. Those came out in 71. The power steering would have a ram assist that runs under the front of the truck. The door panels sound added. And i believe the 327 was optional in 67.
Get those pics up...

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

It appears that its not as untouched as you might believe. For one thing, no disc brakes in 67, most likely from a later truck. Also those doors are from a 72 I think maybe the whole cab by the looks of the ignition cylinder bezel. and parking brake.

Hopefully the pics uploaded now. But I wondered that about the lug pattern. Explains the Pontiac wheels.

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

I figured that the 2 lines on the build sheet with no description were referring to the custom interior. The 4z61dp and 4z62ag. Would that be accurate?

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

I agree with oldspowered This looks like a 72 cab. The door panels are definately 72. The VIN indicates 67 so the glove box lid is probably original. The paint has faded evenly, so maybe it was rebuilt early in its life with 72 parts. In 1967, 327 was indeed an option.

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

It looks to be a 72 truck with a few 67 parts on it. The glovebox door isn't right for the cab.
Looks like a good start on a project...

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

That's the odd thing about this truck. Paint is faded and aged evenly and the bed and fenders are obviously from 67 because they have no side markers.

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

Check the other VIN numbers on the truck. This truck looks more like a 72 with 67 parts than 67 with 72 parts. Only if you are looking for a factory original does it matter much. Otherwise build whatever you want.

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

That's why we were checking. If it were a very rare truck with special factory options we were going to keep it original through the restoration. But our original plan for the truck was to go with a lower stance, custom paint, custom wheels, shaved trim... So it is no problem. It is still a very rust free, 5 lug, power disc brake, power steering, wood bed, and A/C truck which makes a great foundation for the build. It runs and drives and everything works like it was new. Well worth the $1900 price tag. Thanks for all of the answers to our questions.

Re: Help With 67 c10 Information

Looks like a great foundation for what your plans are. As i say, i suspect it is a 72 with a 67 clip and trim. I am not sure how your state works on titles, but i would make sure the frame, cab and glovebox door match with the title.
