2-4 drop questions

I am currently looking to put a 2-4 drop on my 97 ext cab gmc, I also have a set of rally wheels, 8" with beauty ring and gmc caps. Im going to paint the wheels either black or silver, my truck is red and silver two tone.

Whats the best kit?
-Im looking at a DJM 2056 kit.

What would be a good tire size?
-Im thinking 255/70's in the BFgoodrich radial t/a's.

Anything I need to know?

Re: 2-4 drop questions

Also wondering how hard a 4-6 drop would be, the fronts would be spindles and springs Im guessing, and the back would have to be a flip kit with a notch?

How difficult is it to mini notch these trucks?

Re: 2-4 drop questions

I suggest a Belltech 4/6 drop for 88-98 trucks.
Good parts.
Good instructions.

Re: 2-4 drop questions

Do I need a specific kit for ext cabs, for some reason they have them like that?

Re: 2-4 drop questions

The Belltech extended cab rear kit comes with a spacer for the carrier bearing which the regular cabs do utilize. That's the difference between the two kits.

Re: 2-4 drop questions

Ah got it makes sense now, anybody got suggestions on tire size? im thinking about 255/70's. My friend has them on a 87 short wide with rallys and stock suspension, they look really good, but will the look the same on my 97?

Re: 2-4 drop questions

Well after a long look at a 8" rally next to a 235/75 mounted on a 7 steel wheel, I think the 235s will be to thin, so looks like I'm going with the 255/70s, will they rub with a 4-6 drop?

Re: 2-4 drop questions

Go silver on the wheels. It'll work better with the red/silver paint combination.

Re: 2-4 drop questions

Thanks chevyrestoguy, I actually agree.

Now here's an idea, paint the wheels black, and paint the truck a darker red. Not maroon, or burgundy, but just a darker red. Then ghost the headlights and taillights, and remove all the trim. Leave the chrome grill, bumpers, and emblems. I think that would look amazing, thoughts?

Thats the color I'm thinking
