Some recent pics of my 59

I realized I hadn't posted any pics in a while. Here are some from last month...

Love the wheels! What size are they, and the tires?

Re: Some recent pics of my 59

I just like the whole look of that truck. Great color, real world truck wheels and it sets right. A great looking no nonsense truck that a guy would love to jump in and go.

Re: Some recent pics of my 59

I'd like to put those style bumpers on my 52. The rear one would make it easier to make a flip license plate to access the gas tank fill. Would that look ok?

Thanks! They are 15 x 8 1/2 with 3 1/2" backspacing. I got them from a guy in Ohio. Had to drive 4 hours each way to get them! Worth every minute!

I am running 235/60R15 up front and 265/60R15 in back. Probably could have gone with 275s, but didn't want to do any fender cutting if they were close. No rubbing at all, even with my worn out 54 year old springs.

Thanks for the kind words. It's definitely a driver and we still use it as a truck. My wife is into repurposing/recycling/reusing stuff, so the truck gets a workout from time to time hauling old barn doors, windows, boards, you name it. Paint needs some help, but that's later.

I am getting ready to start a T5 5-speed swap very soon. I already have the parts except the clutch. Just waiting on some warmer weather to take the plunge.

I think it would look fine on there. But, in my opinion, I've always thought the AD trucks look best without rear bumpers.... Just my $.02

The 54 AD pickup rear bumper has the dip in it to clear the center mounted license plate and bolts on the 47/53 trucks.

I don't think you will like the gas filler in that location though as it will be too low unless you drop the tank down way low. A lot of those old rear fill cars leaked gas after you filled the tank and then parked the car on a slight incline with the nose higher than the rear.

Nice! High school... She was brown with 235 front and 255s rear and smoke the tires all day long and gas was 1.25 and you had to hit a bump in the just right to get the radio to work... Good memories. Nice ride.

Dang it! You are making me second guess my color selection. I painted my firewall victory red, but I really like black better. Everyone is telling me it is too much prep work to go with black. But it looks so good when done right. Nice truck.

Took two leafs out of the front. Those springs are pretty old, so they were sagging to start with.

It was painted a while ago and you can tell up close. It's a driver and looks great going down the road. Not sure I would do gloss black if I repaint it. Dust REALLY shows up! Flat black, really dark red, or a blue would be the way I would go. What color is Victory red? Sounds like a Corvette color???

I'm going to do a T5 swap as well when I install a 283 in my '59. Any chance you could start a new thread when you tackle that? Would love to see how you do it

thanks for the info, the tire wheel combo looks nice. i have a 55 with 235/70 front, and 255/70 rear, I did have 275/60 on the back and they rubbed. Also need an overdrive trans, too. Was thinking about a TKO but they sure cost a lot.

I can do a thread on the swap - but I am just going by what I have learned on the forums. Not sure that it will be by the book, but I will give it a shot.
