My Blue 1957 build

Bought a parts truck over the weekend. 57 long bed and a shortbed frame too. Pulled the front clip off and going to get it stripped so I can piece it together on mine. Then slap the parts truck together and sell it off.

The UPS man showed up today with my bedwood and stainless strips from Mar-K. So now i have a stock pile of parts that need to be fitted. Nice having stuff to work with. Got the panel welded back inside my passenger door that i cut out to work on the outter skin. Started to lay out the bedwood, but i am going to drop exhaust out of the way to get some room under there. Parts are loaded and ready to go to blaster tomorrow morning.

I got my exhaust out of the way and got my new ebrake cables installed.




Need to find the bracket that pins into ebrake lever




Sucks, putting a truck together in months only to tear it apart in days

Started fitting bedwood, but i am missing one of the bed floor supports so i gotta wait.

Here is the truck and frame i picked up for parts. Took stuff to be blasted to see what i am working with. Going to pick the best parts for my truck then put this back together and sell it.



Its a long bed, but also have a S/B frame

I have plenty of fenders.... Only problem is they are all probably only good for patch panels

Figured i tore apart the front of the truck i would make the rear look complete.

Dont worry the gas access door is not bolted down.

Hangers came with leaf spring kit from TCI.

I like the light color too. May just seal and clear it or use a light stain. Not sure yet. Got plenty of time to decide.

Hey Blue 57. I guess hauling heavy furniture and greasy trash bags is out of the question. Looks really good back there.

Actually found the gas door on eBay. Think autozone carries some that are similar.

Went to the shop today to pick-up the missing piece to hook-up my e-brake cables and they had finished pancaking a hood. Man..... seeing pictures and seeing one in person are totally different. They took out almost 4" of the hood. Really looks good. Good thing i have 3 hoods for my truck. May be a future mod. That truck they are building is going to be a trick piece. Lots of fab being done.

Just got back from picking up doors and fenders from getting blasted. Looks like I am going to learn how to do some metal work.

Where did you get the e-brake cable?

OK, so i picked up my parts from media blasting. Found crap i didnt want to find, but now to deal with it. I already filled a bunch of holes from various mirrors over the years, but now this. Do i cut out the 3/4" strip and patch it or let it be beings it the bottom of the door and the rubber covers it? What you think?

Hello blue57. I'd fix it now. You've got nice clean metal, the door is off the cab. This is just my opinion but you will know it's there and if you let it go it has only one way to go. And later on you might be telling yourself I should have done that when the door was off. My guess is that it most likely would take you a day or two to repair. Hows the other door?

the other side is worse. It was brazed with brass about 17 years ago.

yep you need a inner door lower pannel.

I had to do my doors also. Depending on how far the rust goes back that would tell you how large your patch would be.(Well duh on my part.) I bought new inners and outer skins. I didn't have to use the whole patch panels. I never did this before but said I can handle this. My sheetmetal work did improve. My suggestion in the begining is to take alot of measurements before taking anything apart so you will know where you want to end up. There are alot of guys in these build forums that will give you great advice.
