Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

A little bored this evening, so I went back out into the shop and put some color to the bumper.

I will get some new bolts tomorrow and get this on and in place.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

So the weather is actually above zero today, so I said the hell with looking out the window at my office and came home.

Got the front bumper on the truck, started on the driver's step.

I plan on putting a saddle tank on the driver's side, but in the mean time I will use the existing step.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Not an overly exciting update, but got the step brackets mounted and painted.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get the step on.

Its been a long step up for me for a while. It will be nice not having to do half a hurdle to get into this truck...

Getting there. I need to start working on the inner fenders. If the weather works out over the weekend, I should be able to get them in.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Well got my step bolted on.

Then put the lower fenders installed.

Truck is dusty!!! I need to get it washed up.

I need to do a few minute adjustments on fender lines... Nothing serious. In order to avoid a divorce, I wont ask the wife for help and wait for my Parents to return from their winter in South Texas and get my dad to assist.

Folks we are getting closer... loving it!

I would love that front bumper... Hard to find around here...

As for the mirrors, some may like and some may not, but I am going with the pickup style "dumbo" mirrors.

I was originally going to go with the big truck mirrors, but I think it is better fitting with the pickup style, as this is a pickup conversion.

That is my thought at least.

On another topic, I ordered an entire interior today from Brothers... Hoping all goes well with the fit and finish.

One of these things is not like the other....

Just looking back at my photos, apparently different light in my shop gives different results on my cell camera. I have misplaced the charger to my regular camera.

Looks very different... But I assure you its all the same... ha!

I think the dumbos will work just fine, you don't need door destroyers on it.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Well this weekend has been a bit of a slow one for progress... The nice weather has a lot of pop ins.... Good thing my arm does not have to be twisted too hard to stop working and have a social visit.

However, I did manage to obtain a new to me rear bumper for the truck. I have things underway.

As you will see in the photos, I am stripping the frame and painting it black. As for the chrome covers, they are being buffed down and ready to be painted.

If anyone is wondering, they will be painted yellow... ha...

I have to rework the mounts to fit the frame. That will be done for the first of the week.
