JayDub- Thanks for caring man!!! JK- It is HUNTING season so I have been a hunting widow! I have done alot of the work, but I don't like to do anything permenant or difficult without my hubby's help or guidance. He is Mr. Picky, and I am glad cause this blazer is turning out cool! I put the sound deadner in place this last week, and he needs to weld up a hole in the high hump so I can glue the deadner down. We also ordered a power window kit from A-1 Electric Thursday. Once we get the power window kit we can get the doors put together and then hang all the front clip, fenders, and hood. We have 2 new bumpers waiting to go on, and all the woodgrain trim too! I am getting a little impatient, but I don't want to rush it and screw something up. I also still need 70 4x4 front bumper brackets.

I am also waiting for some houndstooth material from "Pickmup" I had to special order it, but it will be worth it. Here is a mock up that Bouncytruck did for me. This is kind of what we are thinking of doing to the door panels.

We also decieded to do a roll bar...my little boys are worth too much not too! My hubby surprised me last week with a huge box of electronic stuff!! 10" drop down flat screen, Excelon Kenwood CD/MP3 player, 4 6x9's, under seat DVD player, and 2 pairs of wireless headsets for the kids to hear the DVD with! He has a friend that gets all that stuff at cost +10%...you wouldn't believe how much they mark that stuff up!
We are going to mount the CD player in the glovebox or console, and the 10" flip down screen will mount to the roll bar. I will post pics when we get to that point too! Thanks for asking JayDubBlazer!!! |

Thanks for posting. I have been living vicariously through your blazer as I can not work on mine. It is looking good, what sound deadner did you end up choosing? Just wish somebody would give me a box full of audio/video equipment

Our friend has his own heating and air conditioning business, and ordered up some closed cell foam- 1/2" I think. Best part was it was FREE!!! It was a write-off for his company, and he used the same stuff on his restoration for his Br@nco. Even if it was a F@rd it was pretty swwweeeeeeettt! Bright yellow and black! Wish I had a pic to post of that!
We are also getting our top and hatch back from the painter this coming week. I need to get the seal kit and then we will put the top on...I guess we will have to do the roll bar first...always somethin' How come you can't work on yours? $$, time...all of the above? Is that avatar your blazer, or do you have more than one? |

No the reason I can not work on it is I am deployed in Kuwait. I am glad I found this site helps pass the time. Yes that is my blazer in the avatar. It is the second time I have owned one. I bought one in high school and was looking to buy a new truck 2 years ago and one thing lead to another I bought one again.

Kuwait! Wow! How is that going? Do you have a wife and/or kids at home? I bet you are missing your family! How long till you come home? I am not real familiar with military even tho' I live in Olympia which is only 25 miles from Fort Lewis the army base here is Washington. I never have had immediate family in the military. My husbands Dad just came to live with us after a small stroke and he used to be a airplane mechanic for the Airforce. Retired after 22 years as an E8. I think he was Master Sargent, but like I said I don't know alot about military. Good luck to ya and I will keep posting progress as it comes!

72beast- I will post pics of the power window progress as it goes. "My new 72" has done this kit and said it worked great!
Also..... sorry, but I married my man when he was poor and I worked my butt off to help him start his business. Then we had kids and his business grew enough for me to stay home with them. So I am only motivated by LOVE and not money!! :p Oh and Chevy trucks! Ha! Ha! Diane |

1970blazin, it is going alright. I still don't know for sure when I am coming home. I have no wife or kids, just a college student trying to graduate, but haven't been in school for over a year.

Chevy2rcr, I know a couple of guys in the Marshalltown unit talk to them before they went up to bagdad. They are doing alright up there just keeping up the retrans site on at one of the palaces. Yeah I can't wait to get back and spend some money on my truck. I have already bought new seats and planning to buy more whenever I find out I am coming home.
