Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

really? the headers got in your way? how does this happen, unless there is another bolt on the other side.. i got all four of my shocks un buttoned by undoing the bottom first, then you can manouver them... the damn shocks on the rear of mine are ate up rotted worse then yours, but they still work

Yeah on the inside of the frame rail there's a bolt on mine and it's just about level with the headers and have little to no room to try and undo the bolt, the rears were the easiest in my opinion given my bed is off but still very simple

oh boy. Not liking the news on the headers bro! I swear I've had so many problems putting headers on mine. Burned my arm, had a leak, PITA to install spark plugs, DOUBLE PITA to install starter. Now it's going to be a PITA to install new shocks when I get the money. lol. Oh well, sounds sick though. Coming along good! Ride any better now?

Definitely man!! I can't tell you how many times I was cussing because there's no good angle at it truthfully, I'm being honest I'll prolly drop the exhaust and hope it's easier then it's just you don't have much room to move the wrench that's the issue. We bought a swivel it's a pain no doubt it'll get done though I'm not worried just patience and no drive time I'm really trying to have all 4 done before I go drive it so I can really tell the difference.

Thanks for the kind words man just trying to make the progress that I can when I can.

With my headers, Flowtec headers for 69 chevy camaro passenger cars, the starter was actually easy to change. because of the crossmeber and stuff this allowed me to set the starter on the tubes. it is always a PITA to change heavy duty starters especially in a route 66 cafe parking lot with cold and rainy weather! right after i lowered it too. oh good times

See that's where, were different because I don't have camaro headers I have headers that fit the 265-400sbc motors so I'm sure that's the difference between our headers and yours. Either way it's going to be a pain to change shocks and the starter, now I'm hoping I don't have to change mine

haha yea here in a little bit i wont have those headers any more. i was thinking you could make stock manifolds into headers though

To my knowledge no you can't, I mean I'm sure you know this but the manifolds don't really flow that well, now given you can put an exhaust and help but in reality headers are built to flow better. And if I'm not mistaken it's because of the "tubing"

That would be awesome!!!! Except I would forget there on the sides, I'd end up catching someone or something on fire, so it'd definitely have to be like a rear dumped exhaust or side dumped exhaust to so I'm careful

I'm trying to get my final front shock done but it's hard too with my headers and what not, so currently.......it's actually put up on my jack, and a jack stand with a wheel off probably going to try and get some wrench time to get it off this weekend if it's possible.

really it aint strong enough to full forcable hold a flame, and most gases are to insufficient to catch some one fire.. but maybe if you are careful, you wouldnt burn anyone lol

Yeah.......me and fire well I like fire, so that wouldn't exactly work out the way I would want to, it's best I just keep dreaming

Plus I'm already going to start having a lot of fun with my truck as is, don't need to add too much more to it haha!

I like fire too!!!!! 'Cept when it blows out the carb and singes my eyebrows . Later down the road (like maybe in a couple months in college when I hopefully can get a job) I'll be throwing some flamethrowers on my truck just as a "why the hell not" kind of thing. Might want to look into it too

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well nothing was done to the truck, the last and final shock didn't get put on, I'm going to have to have a friend come over next weekend or something to help me pull the header up just enough where I can have full movement with a socket and have no issues.

So next week with fingers crossed I'll have the last shock on and I'll give y'all an update for some drive time let y'all know how the ride feels, I'm expecting great things being that I can promise you the shocks that were on there, have been there for probably 36 years haha

The rear were "okay" you push it in, and it would slowly slide back out but the front dear Lord, it's like there's all the play in the world with it, just as fast as you could push it in it'll slide out that much faster. The new ones are waaaaay better of course!

I think I figured out how to get my bolt loose though thankfully we have straps at my house, so what I'm going to do is unbolt the headers and my exhaust where it's not welded to the pipes, and then I'm going to hook the strap up to the garage door or something that can hold it, and I'm going to "pull" up the headers enough to where I can get the bolt undone, and then when I have the new shock in just undo what I did, and then take it for a nice ride and do a few
