Molding Kits That Are Reasonably Priced, Good Quality?
Good morning, Guys,
I've been lurking around and doing a TON of reading the last few weeks. The amount of knowledge at this forum is phenomenal, hopefully I can contribute at some point. I'm freshening up a '71 C20 Deluxe I just purchased. It's a complete survivor and deserves some TLC. There are enough dings and dents in the original upper and lower woodgrain moldings to justify new. After reading dozens of threads, it sounds like Mar-K is the favorite. Are there any other suppliers who sell a kit that's decent? The pricing structure on the kits I've seen seems to go $650, $800-ish, and Mar-K at around $1,100. Can anyone comment on their level of satisfaction from other suppliers? Feel free to PM or email me too. If saving a few hundred dollars on the moldings will allow me to buy other parts and the quality is good, I'd rather do that. However, if I'm going to curse purchasing the less expensive moldings and regret not going with Mar K, It's probably $300+ extra well spent. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated. Thanks! Jeff |

I went with Mar-K due to some trucks that Ive seen with chi-wan-ese moulding. On those trucks you could see where every clip was since it was so thin. Mar-K is well worth the extra couple hundred bucks

keep an eye open for Mar-K sales. They had 10% off but it ended about a month ago.

MAR-K has outstanding customer service and outstanding products make in USA Give them a call, maybe they will give you a $ break. Ask for Vickie...she is very knowledgeable. I bought my bed wood from them.

I also like Mar-K and in fact just ordered the two upper bed pieces from them today for my K20 build. Consider this: go with the 69-70 style all metal clips rather than the 71-72 combo of metal and plastic clips. You'll have to drill the needed holes but will avoid the ill-fitting plastic clips that leave a gap between your sheet metal and the trim that have poor quality adhesive. One caveat though, the plastic POS clips I used on my 72 K10 did not come from Mar-k, maybe theirs are different but I wouldn't chance it.

For a daily driver that really gets used I'd go with the cheap stuff from LMC or others. For a frame off Mar-K for sure. I used Mar-K for my build and couldn't be happier.

I sincerely appreciate the feedback. I think for the few hundred more, I'm going to go with Mar-K. There were some really good points made about seeing where the clips are on the imported moldings and I'd like to support American production of anything at this point. Now, I need to wait for another sale at Mar-K!
