Need new wheels for a disc brake conversion

Hey everyone,

I'm going to do the drop spindle disc brake swap pretty quick here on my 63 C10, and apparently my factory 15 inchers wont fit over the calipers.

Anyone know where I can get a new set of 6 lug 15 inch wheels that look like the factory steel wheels? Or close? I know that a GM 15 inch after 1970 was shaped different to accommodate a disc brake, but short of tracking a set of those down I'm wondering where/if I can get a new set. Been hunting around Coker and they have options, but they all seem to have many holes to fit a wide variety of applications.. I just want 6 holes.

I did the same setup and using the 70s-80s 4x4 rally wheels. They're 15x8 and 6 lug. Didn't put the tires on but believe with the 2 1/2 inch drop spindles and 1 1/2 coils cut I'll have to use a 245/60-15 tire.

Try using a 1/4" spacer before you buy new wheels. My '66 had been converted to disc and had the original tapered-barrel wheels still when I bought it. It was just a roller, not sure if there was enough clearance to allow for any flexing while driving.

Are they 6 lug or 5?

Diamond Racing makes custom offset steel wheels in a number of "factory-ish" looks. They are fairly inexpensive since they are steel, and you can have them setup how you need them.

They are 6 lug. My 66 is stock suspension right now. Changing it out starting this week.

These rallies look pretty sweet on these trucks,and they fill up the wheelwell a little more.

Wheel Vintiques makes a '60's GM pickup rallye wheel that looks pretty sharp, but I'm not 100% sure they work with disc brakes. I fairly certain that I have seen them on our trucks with disc brakes and you can get them chrome or ready to paint.

I wanted some what stock looking wheels after my conversion as well. I went with cragar deluxe 69s. They were only like 60 each through summit

Sounds like you don't want to search for factory wheels(?) - but they really are quite plentiful (i.e. disk brake steelies). Just let your fingers do the walkin (or your legs) in a few local junkyards - you are looking for 71-87 K10 or K5 wheels. They're 15" 6 luggers and clear calipers and fit factory hub caps. Rallies work also, as mentioned above, just depends on the look you're going for - but it sounds like you want steelies. It's worth doing the hunt for them. Or post a wtb on the parts board and you'll eventually be able to scrounge a full set. The money you save can be spent on powder coat then. Remember to grab 5 so your spare fits!

Here some 15x7 12 series smoothies bare medal and I had them powder coated..(Wheels Vintique) $49.99 through Summit and the shipping wont kill ya... and these wheels will clear the brake calipers

Hey doobie, whats the backspace on those? I think I found the same wheel with a 4 inch backspace. Hows that fit?

Heres a pic of the factory steelies made for disc brakes found on 73+ trucks, blazers, 4x4s. You'll notice they have four bumps on the face to hold on the hubcaps, as opposed to the 3 bump drum brake rims. Im using them on my 63 when I do the conversion to disc brake.

The fit is perfect for me especially in the rear on a static drop...I like my wheels tucked inside the fenders... measured my side fender spare mount wheel and It looks like the back spacing is a little less than 4"..
