What rear gears do I have??
Alright guys my rear end started going out tonight on my way home. Have always wondered what gears I have in my rear end. So can somebody tell me where the code is that tells me what gears I've got. I have a 99 Sierra 1500 single cab z71 with a 5.3 it's a 10 bolt. There was a number on it that said 0747 if that helps anyone...

Check the glove box for the RPO code. It probably has 3.73 rears which is code GT4.

GQ1 -- axle rear, std ratio
GT4 -- axle rear, 3.73 ratio GT5 -- axle rear, 4.10 ratio GU4 -- axle rear, 3.08 ratio GU5 -- axle rear, 3.23 ratio GU6 -- axle rear, 3.42 ratio G80 -- axle rear, limited slip (positraction) HC4 -- axle rear, 4.56 ratio |
