WOOHOO!!! Just made a deal on a 20 Ft. flat bed car hauler. He's one of my customer's so i traded him 25 weeks of mowing service for his trailer. Equivalent to about 700 bucks. I'm happy!

Cool deal, does it have the heavy duty 3/4 ton axels and 8 lug wheels? Does it have breaks?

the trailer doesnt have 3/4 ton axles, but it will soon have brakes...any suggestions on brand or kits? i'm considering takin off the wood and puttin on a steel floor, and paintin the trailer. i'll be puttin a tool box on the front and some d-hooks in the floor. maybe a winch and a wind guard....any other ideas...nothin stays stock around here for long.

might wanna think twice 'bout takin' the wood deck off a replacing w/ a steel deck.....loads definitely will shift easier on steel than on wood,especially steel on steel.......dump your used oil on the wood deck once a yr. it'll last a lifetime!

I'd keep the wood too. It works great for screwing in stayblocks under the edge of the tires on vehicles you're hauling. Keeps them from rocking back & forth & sliding.........Zoomy

Check the gvw before you go too crazy on adding things. i bought a "Big Tex" car hauler and opted for the diamond plate and not wood. When I got home and discovered that the Gvw was 7000lbs and the all steel trailer weighed 3000lbs, It didnt take a wizzard to figure out that the trailer I was so proud of couldnt haul a 72 chevy truck without being overloaded. I took it back in the morning and they refunded my $$$.

How about some flames!!

I'm with the rest on the weight thing, putting a steel floor in is going to add a serious amount of weight and reduce your hauling weight by the same amount, as is a large tool box (chuck your straps etc in your truck) A winch is a good idea (hand operated will weigh the least. I would suggest getting some of the non slip floor paint they use in warehouses etc and painting the floor with it. Wet wood can be pretty slippery too. (particularly if you've chucked used oil on it!)

Hey don't laugh, I know I guy that built a about a 40ft covered trailer for his race car and it has airbags on it, he can drop it down right to the ground.

Don't put a toolbox & expensive winch on the trailer because if they steal it, they get everything. Put the toolbox in your truck for the hold down straps & extras, then mount the winch to a plate that can be easily removed from the trailer when not in use & store it in the toolbox.

Experience talks...........

Oh yea, get locks for the trailer.
