Correct me if I'm wrong
I was cruising e-bay and saw this np205 which is supposedly out of a 73 chevy. It's divorced.. I say it's a Dodge, it even has Dodge u-joints.

i dont think it is factory
i have seen them divorced in chevys but not from the factory but i may be wrong it happened once befor many many years ago

I"m probably wrong, but I saw one once on a "3 on the tree" truck with a divorced xfer case. Maybe it was a special order order or a hybred.......Zoomy

all the 67-72 and 73-76 C/30 Napco 4x4 conversions I've seen have had divorced NP205's. If that's the 'case' (pun intended), then it would make me mad someone would just strip a potentially valuable Napco conversion of its transfer just cuz it was a 205.

I agree about the dodge u-joints, chevrolet had/has u-bolt style yokes not strap style. Plus I have never seen a divorced 205 in the later years in a chevy, what the seller needed to do was show a close up of the tag

I have a 73' with a 3 on the tree (rare), and it does not have a divorced 205 TC. I have never seen another 3 on the tree truck of this vintage although there supposedly out there. This was a county truck originally. It is now parts.

You guys sure its not a ford case they use divorced cases.

Ford Drivelines are on the drivers side. Dodge and Chevy are on the passenger side. I have a t-case out of a Dodge that is identical to that one.
I don't think any animals were harmed in that e-bay auction, just sort of an anal retentive report on my part

A married t-case is bolted directly to the transmission via an adapter and has a splined shaft or collar for an input.
A divorced t-case has a u-joint for an input and has a short driveline between the tranny and the tcase. It is an older style, but does have some advantages in that you can use any tranny that will can fit on your bellhousing. I want to use a wierd NP542 5 speed tranny that has no adapter to a t-case. I can do this because all I need is a driveline that fits the tranny on one end and the t-case on the other end. Hope this answers your question.
