1964-66 Engine placement

2 days ago I saw a 1964 long bed and stopped by to look at it Here in Moreno Valley Calif.Well after i got permission to look at it.The engine Is right up against the fire wall.My ? is If it had the inline 6 in it.Can they use the inline 6 frame mounts to us them for a V8.It had a 3 on the tree now it has a Automatic in it now.I know I've tryed it a long time ago and last time i new you could not. use inline 6 mounts with a V8. The engine looks Crooked inside the engine cavity. It has points in it.My only though was they could not find the V8 frame mounts so they used what they had.Or some one was too cheep to get a longer drive shaft and scooted the engine back.I will try and get some pictures for you all to see what i'm looking at.Sam
