Re: Project Picacho
Awesome truck! Quick question, when you ordered the Porterbuilt front control arms did you get the 1" forward version? The wheels look pretty centered compared to other bagged trucks. I have been unable to find a pic of a truck with the 1" versions installed.

I am working on getting the bed floor finished before Goodguys, so I will update the build in the next few days. Thanks again for the kind words - I love that stance and style on this truck to. It really is a lot of fun to drive as well. When I get it out on the freeway crusiing 60+ if just hugs the road. The bags make a big difference for sure. Ronnie

Re: Project Picacho
Finally getting around to covering up Picacho's good looking rear suspension! I've actually been a fan of keeping things open -I like to show off the pretty powder coated Porterbuilt components, but it's time to cover things up!
I wanted something a little different, so I went with concrete form material. I originally was going to just go with 2 pieces and split the bed, but went with 3 and divided it up accordingly. I used a few of the original strips too! The rear diff hole will be covered with an access door. Once I get it back form painter I will update.

Not to be out done by "Picacho", "Grandpa Joe" got some new threads too!
I love these old saddle seat covers. I can't remember riding in a truck as a kid that didn't have one - Good times!

Re: Project Picacho
I was definitely going for different! I am liking how it turned out so far. I am going to have painter friend clear the wood with a semi-flat. I'm thinking it will darken it a little too. Maybe i should say enhance it a bit
We'll see - I will take a few pics.

Re: Project Picacho
Here are a few pictures of Picacho before I sent him down the road! The new owner is giving him a new power plant (5.3 ls), a one piece window kit, and I believe complete Accuair set up. Hopefully he takes over this thread and keeps us informed.
One cool story and a testament to Nate's (Porterbuilt) stuff -is the guy came out to buy the truck and brought a tow vehicle and trailer, I said you got to drive this bad boy at least out of town. He agreed and said he would drive it for an hour or so - then load it up and trailer it the rest of the way home. The next day we talked and he couldn't believe how well the truck rode and handled - he drove it all the way - 7 hours, 400 miles! How cool is that!

To add to the story, I ran the truck 75-85mph all the way home. Not bad for a 3 on the tree. The only thing more impressive then the truck was the fact my girlfriend rode all the way back home with me without a single complaint...no radio, wind noise I was impressed! I'll start adding to the thread soon, still gathering up parts! |
