Hi guys im new to the site, just wanted to share my new project i started. Its a 56 stepside, i have a long list of mods planned. I started with building a completely new frame. tci mustang 2 frontend with air ride and 2 inch dropped spindles, i have a 598ci supercharged big block waiting to go in it. bought somw 20x15 wheels for the back and some 29x18x20 tires. just getting started with. ant and all opinions welcomed.

Nice build you have going on, but do you think it will have enough power?

I guess a blown 598 big block will be OK, LOL. What kind of engine is it, BTW?

Thanks guys. Im hoping for a real nice turn out. and u can never have enough power. The motors a gm based dart tall deck block. 4.6 bore and 4.5 stroke dart 345 CNC heads. Currently running a psi blower but not sure if its gonna fit under the hood. I don't wanna cut up the hood. I moved the motor back about 4 inches and as low as I could get it down while still running a 10 quart pan.

Got my rear tires mounted up yesterday, so it looks like im a start narrowing my rear end housing this weekend after i finish my resecced firewall.

Yeah its just for mock up, although I'm considering using the fuel injection off off it. I have a pair off those motors laying around. I'm just not hip on fuel injection. Trying to find out if I can use it with a distributor and not the coil packs and crank trigger it uses with the merc computer.

Those engines were so dam rich out of the box. Just incase they got put in some big turd that was lugging them all the time . Merc didnt want to be giving warranty due to leanout . Time spent reflashing to get them right would be painfull i have to think.

The intake would look cool under the hood tho.

They it would look good, but I don't have the computers, and I don't want to use the crank trigger and coil packs that came on the motor. I need to find a computer that I can use with a msd distributer.

Thanks, yeah that lil motor will be between 750 and 800hp if i leave it naturally asperated, and over 100hp if i super charge it, witch i propbaly will, I run a psi blown 598 in my boat and it makes 1246hp. so should be a fun ride.

Thanks im very excited about this build, I bought a 56 truck when i was 14 yrs old and was doing a frame off on it with a camero front clip. I had the cab and fenders blasted and all the sheet metal work completed. Had plans to prime it the day hurricane Katrina hit and devastated us. after the bare metal truck sat in salt water for two weeks it trashed.

Thanks, there American Racing wheels 20x15 in the rear. Havent ordered the frots yet going to put the sheet metal back on so i can get some good measurments before i order.

Got a lil bit done on the truck this weekend. Mounted the wheels on a telesoping jig to help determing the rearend width, and cut the wheel opening in the bed and made the templates foe the wheel tubs.

I also finished fabing up the firewall and tacked it all in place. I followed the shape of the motor pretty tight to allow room for the a/c unit under the dash. im also sealing off the cowl vent and removing the steel under the dash for the vent to allow more room to get the a/c tucked in tighter. the firewall is also tall enough so i have enough room to pull the distributor out if i ever need too.

Have you got any pics from under the dash of the area where you removed the metal?
I may do that to mine for room also.
