you thought your day was bad....

yeah, great news. about a half hour ago my front driver side wheel fell off while turning a corner. yeah.. my fender is crunched and my brakes are messed up. yeah the moral of this story?? DONT GO TO LES SCHWAB!! wow, i cant believe this happened, les schwab threaded the wrong size lugs on the rotor and they stripped it. alright, i cant talk about it anymore, this just sucks!!! ill get pics when i can bare to look at it

Take a look at this thread. Another board member just went through this. His nym is Mechanic and his post is about halfway down that page. PM him for tips in dealing with the monkeys at Schwabs.

man, you havent seen anything until you have seen the dirt on my truck.. havent washed it in months... no reason too, in-laws live 2 miles down a gravel road then about 3/4 of a mile down a dirt road. which turns into a 3/4 mile long mud pit when it rains.

Dude that sucks! As a manager for a national "brake and muffler" shop I gotta say that it has happened not once but twice in the last 6 mos to my shop! WE PAID FOR ALL THE REPAIRS AND FOR THE CAR THAT THE ROLLING TIRE HIT!! Les schwab has insurance and they should use it! I feel your pain!

Take it back to Lester Schwab and let the store manager see what happen. I am sure they will pay for damages due to their mistake otherwise it may be a small claims court case. Keep us all informed on this.

well, i took a wire brush to the studs and found that only two were stripped. i threw on the wheel with only three lugs on it and drive a block up tp les schwab. i talked to the manager and he said that they cant do anything about it since there were still three good studs. he told me that if there were three good studs left that there would be no way that the wheel could of fallen off. i didnt want to fight with the guy to make things worse. but im not going to give up. the brake system checked out well, but my shift linkage is off. i checked the motor mounts and they are fine, i guess things just moved around a little when it dropped to the ground. can anyone tell me the quality of the LMC fenders? it seems a bit off that they are only 100. but hey, look on the bright side, now i have an excuse to make my truck nice!! haha. thanks for the thoughtful replies! ken,
