Re: Project Little Black Truck
LBT has actually become my Daily. I just like bombin' along in it. Knowing what I know now after Yeller, the only way to really do it right is to pull it all the way down, and I don't have dough or time for that. I cannot stand half-done stuff, so the whole 5-year plan is out. I may rip it down and do a cheapo freshen of the front end and drop it. I have the parts. It needs a rearend, also, and the motor leaks the more I drive it. I dunno. I'm just enjoying the beater-ness at the moment, but I know I really oughta get off my butt.

Re: Project Little Black Truck
Totally understand. It's like I was telling Bohman over on my build, if your driving it, it would be hard to tear it down, then you can't drive it!

Re: Project Little Black Truck
I know what you're saying. Sometimes I think I should've just done the V8 / Muncie swap and started rodding around... but nooooooo we gotta tear it down to the bone so we can clean and paint it properly. Two years later I'm stalled, in a rut, burnt.
Thought anymore about wheels for LBT?

Re: Project Little Black Truck
Ok, so after the jeers and catcalls, I thought I should at least make a ceremonial effort. I really wanted to see what the paint looked like, So I took one of my flamed pieces that I didn't like and shot it. It came out good, the blue is a lot lighter than I expected, but it still has good shift to it. Yes, been working feverishly on the little dutch car when I haven't been taking a whole neighborhood of kids dirt bike riding. I'm tryin', I promise! Here ya go, whadaya think?-

I don't think it's polished enough. I can't quite make out what your shirt says.

What's Chip riding? We've gotten out once this year but spent most of the time pulling the Boy's pal outta the mud hole.

Re: Project Little Black Truck
Mine's the Blaster on the end. 3x overbore, pipe, jet, reed, K&N, it gits it pretty good. The second from left is The Kid's XR80 and next to him is Tater's KTM 50. Neighbor Jay just bought the XR100 on the end and the TTR 225 4th over. The 225 is great, but has a VERY soft suspension. I can report it doesn't like being launched 5 ft. to flat off the dirt pile in the background! I'm about to sell the KTM to Jay and get a bigger bike for me.

Re: Project Little Black Truck
Nice! Two stroke quads are a blast! I've got a Zuki 250R Quadracer but it's in a million pieces. The Boy wants to pull it all together one day.

The color looks good.
You might like this link too. http://worldsfinestguitars.wordpress...-with-the-new/ There are a bunch of the original style ES-335's available, but the Trini Lopez style is hard to find and super expensive, like $6000. The DG-335 is pretty rare too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-ES-33...item5d3ede919c

Re: Project Little Black Truck
Thanks for the pics! I was kinda trippin, cause in the vids, and in the can, it's a LOT darker. I about crapped when it came out light. It also doesn't cover worth a damn, about 3 rounds to get it this solid. I wanna find one of those dub models and shoot it to get a better idea. We'll see. I wish I could get that Grohl/Full metal jacket thing in a poster, that's cool. Don't matter, as I have no room in the shop/garage to hang it!
I gotta quit watching Overhaulin, 'cause Foose keeps doing these fade jobs, and that's what I have a big chub for, and it's gonna get me in trouble. It's all academic at this point anyway. Boppa blew Yeller up this week, and we have to to a full teardown on the pool to open it. I'm quite literally out to 4th of July without trying. Gah.

Re: Project Little Black Truck
So its like my gold color then for coverage. The color of the sealer/base will make a huge difference then. I used white sealer on mine because it made the paint real bright and brought out more of the yellow/orange tones. You could maybe even spray this over a silver to make it pop or over a gray to darken it. Too bad about yellers engine. Too many burnouts? I'd just swap another motor in. Done in a weekend and back down the road.

Re: Project Little Black Truck
Im planning on grey sealering it. I usually go straight over SS grey anyway, so it should work out.
Boppa left the rad cap cracked on the hottest day so far this year. It got hot enough that it dropped the neck out of the rad, and left him beside the freeway. He's already got another rad, water pump, and hoses/thermostat. So, we gotta put all that together. At least it still starts/fires with good oil pressure and no cream in the oil. We'll see.

Good looking color. I had a '69 Chrylser New Yorker coupe with a 440 Magnum punched out to 462 that was that color back in the day. And there is nothing wrong with a DD that you can have fun with. |

Thanks! That panel hangs right beside the pass-thru in the garage as a friendly reminder of what I ought to be doing. I'm working on some...stuff for this.
