Might Be a Dumb Question, But....
So what is the difference between a C10 and C/15?
I know "C" represents 2wd, while "K" represents 4wd, 20 is 3/4 ton, and 30 is 1 ton. But what is the difference between 10 and 15? |

Were there C15s in the 60-66 years?

Re: Might Be a Dumb Question, But....
I dunno, but I was reading somewhere and it listed the types of C/K trucks as
10 series 15 series 20 series 30 series I have never heard of a 15 and I wondered what it was. |

Re: Might Be a Dumb Question, But....
hmm - i've always had in the back of my mind that chevs were c10/20/30, etc and GMCs were 15(00)/25(00)/35(00) until both adopted the 1500/2500/3500 nomenclature in 1988-ish. I could be completely off base though - hopefully someone can confirm...
Or maybe C15 is a 5/8 ton truck... ![]() |

This is the designation the way I've always heard it. My 78 Sierra Grande dually was a GMC 35.

Re: Might Be a Dumb Question, But....
I agree with marketing differences between GMC and Chevy from 1962 on. 60-61 were GMC 1000 and Chevy Apache 10

I have seen the c/15 in the past. Wiki says its a long bed but they did make a 9' bed back then special order. Maybe that was the 15? Or the camping version I think was also the c/15 |

Re: Might Be a Dumb Question, But....
Maybe the 15 just meant heavy 1/2 ton like for towing a trailer,
c10 1/2 ton = 1000 lbs c15 ? 1200 lbs c20 3/4 ton 1500 lbs c30 1 ton 2000 lbs-----just guessing did a little looking around, looks like chevy changed to c15 for a 1/2 ton then later to a c1500 ? I do not think our years were referred to as c 15's unless it was in canada ?? |
