Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
started on the body work. sides are real close to beeing ready. the tailgate wasn`t touched to much before we primed. thats where i spent most of the day saturday. the worst spot is the recess in the tailgate. all the inside corners and the top radius triing to get them perfectly straight. getting there, hope to have it ready for paint in a few weeks. sorry for the crap picture(forgot my camera).

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
More new parts. 2" sectioned crossmember made by member Rusbuilt. he offered to make it for me(i had a wtb add up). came out nice. i started to clean it up-knocked some of the welds down. he offered to do it and blast/paint it, but to save alittle $$ i figured i would do that. so busy at work and triing to get box ready for paint i didnt have time to do it myself(and i am alittle scared to weld on the frame-getting better at welding, just not comfortable with doing this yet). this worked out perfect for me. it will get blasted and painted to match the frame.
next up a set of porterbuilt extreme front shock relocators and kyb shocks. in the pic also is a new alt(105 amp) to help out when i install the air ride.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Also made a trip down to southern pa and visited fellow board member Matty Wagz(little over 4 hours each way-left 345 pm fri and got back 115 am sat). picked up the set of rally`s he had for sale. 2 15*8`s and 2 15*7`s with trim rings. caught them on a truck work night(they were installing air ride in his 66). his truck was looking good. they will be painted and new tires installed soon. will also need to get a nice set of center caps.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
and a shot of my new rally`s. went with futura 255/60/15`s(27") for the back and 215/65/15`s(26") for the front. should have plenty of clearance for riding low. now i just need to get some centers for them.
also changed my plan again for the rear. had a chance to get a porterbuilt extreme rear with no wait and couldnt pass it up. i have my kp notch and watts link up for sale in the fs section. should get it this week(hope to have pics friday). have a 2 piece driveshaft coming this week also.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
Good choice going with the Porterbuilt Extreme Dropmember, you will love it. The Bed looks really good, you will be together in no time.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
thanks kieth. third times the charm i guess.lol. when i paid for the rear the guy called me to verify shipping info and asked if i needed an extreme front to go with it. cant stop thinking about it now. if we can agree on a price i will get it from him. thats why i put a feeler f/s thread out on my front a arms. would need to sell them to get the complete front kit. need to have it done for the syracuse nationals in just under 8 weeks. 7800 cars/trucks and i`m sure it would be the only porterbuilt one there(didnt see any last year). would love to show off the pb stuff. the bed hopefully will see paint this weekend/next at the latest.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
wheels/tires are staying(this is the third set-ones that came on it, the crager soft 8`s and these). motor is staying- its one of the only things left from the original truck. plus i like it beeing different. most have 350`s at the shows. everyone asks whats under the hood and i say 250. they give me a look like yah right. then i pop the hood and they usually say when are you putting in a 350. i want to upgrade it maybe over the winter(4 barrel offy intake and duals). changed my mind alot on paint before i choose this.
dont think i officially said it, but i paid for my extreme front dropmember today. got it from the same guy i got the rear from. got a great deal on it(new never installed- paid cost on it with free shipping). dropmember/arms/hood hinges/unisteer/and swaybar. everything but the rack. guy bought 6 setups(3f/3r extreme and stage 1 and2`s) from pb a year ago to build 6 trucks and ended up changing his mind. this all came about because i needed some trailing arms to clear the frame. thought about getting some pb ones and they would have run me 500 plus ship. then thought about the kp 6 link, but that was 1500. then i saw the pb rear dropmember on ebay and bought it. it will end up costing me about 500 when i sell off my other parts. basically a wash if i would of ordered a set of arms. that was a no brainer. then when he called to verify ship address he asked if i needed an extreme front to go with it. when its all said and done i will have about 6-700 out of pocket in the front to upgrade it. couldnt pass it up. this is what i wanted from the start. just happened to have alittle extra cash when it counted. pics of rear soon. going out later to un box it.

Bennett, in the end i am so happy this happened. Allthough i would have been happy with what i had, this just puts it over the top for me. air install should start in 2 weeks i hope.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
work on the bed has hit a wall. a wall of bees to be exact. friday we got a call that some bees were on the outside of the barn. well some was about 40,000. they called a bee keeper to take care of it. he got alot last night. they went there today and had to start spraying. hope to get some done tomorrow so it wasnt a completely wasted weekend. did take her down to a local hang out tonight(sweet inspirations in fulton). managed to scrape a manhole cover(engine crossmember) in town were they were doing some construction. cant wait to get the pb parts on. need some clearance.

Re: My 67 lwb: Project Katy
zicc1835, thanks. been sanding the box the last 3 days. getting real close. had to put alittle dolphin glaze on a couple spots. we plan on re shooting the high build hopefully tomorrow night. depends how fast the tailgate letters sand in. shoot it again, then wet sand and hopefully it comes in nice. then its up to the weather, maybe shoot some paint sunday(more likely sometime next week). i just checked the tracking on my front dropmember. it left norwalk ohio at noon today en route to ny.hopefully it shows up early.
