Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Just some teaser Pics....

after a frustrating night messing with the power steering pump and the pulley alignment or lack there of, I had to throw the bed on it to see what was doing.... needed a little incentive.

days are getting numbered, supposed to leave next Thursday for OC. We shall see

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

couple more pics....

just throwing plywood box over air controls for now; open to suggestions on something cool... was thinking maybe an old trunk or even a wooden whiskey barrell... stay tuned.

For now truck is together, taking it in this morning for an alignment after putting all of the new stuff on, it is close just from my eyeball b/c I drove around local and slow all evening, including to Rita's and front tires seem still good.

Will keep the pics coming, thanks for everyone's input/expertise/help, looks like I will be driving it to Ocean City on Thursday...

Especially thanks to my Dad, Hype, Mike Kelly Shoes, Keith, Scotty, Ian, and of course my wife, Joni for putting up with me the last 3-4 weeks. Between the late nights in the garage, lots of cussing, and lots of beer drinking, we somehow overcame all of my "learing experiences" ( F#(K ups! - and there were quite a few) and got her done...

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Well, made it down and back with only little issues.... lost driver's rear air bag = issue with valve; and on way back lost power steering belt...

other than that was an uneventful weekend and was ALOT of fun just cruising around...

2 pics here, 1 with Buddy's 29 dodge rat rod and another's 55 chevy...

will be posting more in depth pics of some of the projects to "finalize" everything...

Will be adding a 700R4 trans in near future...

Nice meeting you Matt, 68LONGHORN; not sure about fall, come down for bike week in Sept...

Thanks again for everyone looking and checking out,

WAGZ

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

going to resurrect my thread here and continue with my "build" which is never-ending as you all know...

not much else done as of late; did change the wheels/tires, wanted something a little bigger and wider.

found some c5 vette wheels on good 'ol CL for $85 with 2 all but new front tires... let me know what you think. will probably be going satin black powder coat when i need tires, which won't be too long since my locker loves eating up those wide z rate 19s on the back...

17x8 on front
18x10 on back

not sure of back-spacing, wouldn't have fit without 1 1/2" spacers.

1)plans in the near future are stereo install, 3" 40 series flowmasters nice but does get a little abnoxious;

2)sound insulation on the floor/wall/doors of cab

3)mini tubs for wide tires/wheels

4)clean up air ride, add another compressor (wish i would have never installed 1/2" line = too much time to fill and have 2 tanks).

5)bigger altenator (100 amp now, need more w/ 2 compressors)

6)body work

7)paint of some sort... has to stay flat but have no idea what color yet.

8)lots of clean up; maintenance; and TLC

Stay tuned and thanks for looking...

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

little progress, or de-gress i guess... got more torn apart than put together @ this point but did get my dome light installed, ha ha

thought about what i can use to install air ride components in inside bed for a while now, from whiskey barrel, to aluminum box, to old soda cooler/etc, etc... think i finally broke down and am going to try to hide everything under the floor of the bed... will keep pics and progress coming.

wife got new flooring i have to install, so no truck this weekend.

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

What did you use for the interior light? & how much customization was needed to get it to rest on the existing factory mount.

Also, I like the Halibrand style wheels but the Vette wheels makes a guy wonder what's really underneath. Lookin Good.

Keep rockin those Amish.

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Blue, is a dome light from a 90s chevy truck... have had in the cabinet for a while and finally decided to put it in the other day...had to cut the cab like you see in the pictures and had to "narrow" the dome light b/c it was too deep with the curve in the cab. to be honest, if i knew what a pain in the ass it would be, i would have just got a clear lens for the original.

more work to come soon;

thanks for looking,

WAGZ

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Been a Loooooooooong while, but finallly getting back to it... slowly but surely. Took a little break on my trk to work on Kid's muckstang, yeah yeah, i know... He is 14 and this will be his first car, we all learn somehow...

few changes to truck, many more to come! Back to the Buick Rally wheels; just wasn't feeling the vette wheels anymore; wrinkle black grill, sail panels, and exhaust tips...

thanks for looking,
