Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Thanks! I agree, I love this color too and I was just lucky to snag this one while everyone else was sleeping. Keep looking, you will be amazed by what you can find still out there. Keep following, good stuff will start happening next week.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Well since I have some garage space back finally, I have a chance now to finish a project that I have needed to take on for months. My daily driver, still on the original trans has been making very angry sounds for a long time. Split case trannys don't like to be forced to drive around with so much camber... This nice new trans is going to finally get installed so I can put the split case out of its misery and also keep up with freeway traffic for once.
Trust me, with only 36HP you will take every advantage you can get to move with the flow of traffic, even if its only in the slow lane...

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Yeh us VW guys have a big show coming up on the 9th called the Classic where all the cool cars make their debuts. Im bringing a new car but its not a VW, it starts with a "P" and I will post up some pics after the show. As far as Gumby goes, I am going up next week to Delmo's and I will start posting progress pics after that. I also picked up another C10 to play with while mine is away... Pics of that coming soon too.

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
good guess... If any of you guys in So cal want to see a great VW show, and trust me, you do, then come out on the 9th to the Classic. Its held in Anaheim. Good show for sure. Back to C10 content, I picked up a 65 SWB over the weekend in original paint with patina. Very cool truck. Hoping to swap over some parts off Gumby's suspension to the 65 and sell the rest of the stuff. Should I list the parts in the classifieds section here on the site? things like the CPP tubular control arms and spindles. I figure someone here will want that stuff right?

Just wonder why you didn't save ALL the suspension for your '65?

Re: Crushing Gumby 71 Shortbed Patina build
Well, work has started! The truck is getting blasted apart and ready to get the full treatment. It was really cool to see all the Porterbuilt stuff in the raw form. You really get a sense of how quality this stuff really is! I grabbed all the static drop stuff and wheels from Delmo to give him some more space and took a few quick shots of Gumby before all the major work starts. I expect to be up there again this week to do some work and catalog the major changes.
Its getting exciting. Also I am going to list the complete ECE 5.5/6 drop kit and the wheels and tires, all only a few months old, for sale on the site so if anyone is interested, drop me a PM. Its basically new! Keep following, good stuff is happening!

What's the expected timeframe to complete the new build? Just curious.
