rear ends and wheels

I have installed cpp rear trailing arm kit and have a 9 inch that i want to narrow i really like the deep dish look on the rims, my question is does anybody know where i should start? should i narrow the diff first or buy wheels and if i buy wheels first does anyone know how much back space is too much as to where it will cause problems?

Me and a buddy narrowed his mustang way back had a blast doing it, but anyway he ordered his wheels and tires first and we actually put them under the vehicle exactly how he wanted them to sit then we measured for the width of rear end. As far as how much backspace you want its up to you my own opinion is it will depend on how wide your going for ex if your doing a 15x14 rim i would go with 6 inch back space that way when your looking at it when finished theres 8 inches of lip i would stay close to the middle of the rim like 6-7-8 inches good luck sounds like fun! oldno7
