lowered question

hi guys i have a 1968 chev truck and i was wondering how low can it go with a static drop i was thinking maybe 6 inches in the front but how low in the back can you go

I've seen 6/8 but not sure how they do it. I don't know if the quality of ride would be there at that point. I'm running 7" in the rear and it seems pretty tight. 6" ece drop spring and 1" block

I think a 4/6 is about as low you can go with the need to make some additional changes.

I agree, I'm at 5/7 and I have barely a coke can heighth between the crossmember and the ground in the front and have a C-notch in the back for the added travel

i'm running the same set up with blocks. No rake in mine, sits level.

You can go 6/8 but you will need a c-notch. You will start losing your ride quality when you go lower than about 5" in front unless you are on air bags. A "coke can" height under the front crossmember is tones of room. I bet the avg new corvette isn't able to drive over a pop can without knocking it over... My 78 is lowered 6/8 and I have no problems driving it anywhere. I have never once bottomed out and I haul my dirt bikes around in it every weekend. It's a nice ride height. Just don't try to do much off road driving off the beaten path.

the truck has drop springs in the back but im not sure what size i would like to know because i dont want the back sitting lower than the front.The front i have it lowered

I should think you would be more than fine with a 6 inch spring in the back and possibly even the 7, most kits are sold 4/6 and 5/7 and I havnt seen or heard of anyone being lower in the back ever. Maybe someone better in the know than me will chime in!!

well you can run 78-87 front end and get 3" spindles and springs. on 67-72 im pretty sure 2.5 is the lowest spindles you can get. imo 3" drop springs are too much. bad ride and alignment sux. you can get a 6" spring out back and a 2" block but you need a notch if you go with a block. some people make there own 3" blocks but this puts the arms real close to the ground not good! that is why I chose to go with the channel job, caus you get the low look with a better ride and geometry. and more arm clearance front/back
