Re: under hood paint
I don't see a problem using same paint on both sides of hood. One no breather back firing carb did burn paint on both sides; not really paints fault though.

Re: under hood paint
Funny just dealt with this issue this week on my K20 build, which I'm kinda trying to keep OEM with a few exceptions. As far as I can tell, GM kept the under surface of the hood (if that's what your post references) black - the EDP or whatever coating that came on all hoods and sheetmetal pieces like doors. The top of the hood and sides that are visible when the hood is shut are painted to match the body. This is the scheme I'm replicating. A body color matched hood under surface is a give away to a repaint but may appeal to some folks and that's cool too.

Re: under hood paint
I can go w/ OEM color scheme. Some years have body color under hood. Didn't know some came black but did know some came w/ that insulation stuff that falls off after several years.

Re: under hood paint
Guess I should clarify
Which type of paint last longer? Is it worth the time trying to keep gloss looking good or go with a flat? Ive had problem with gloss standing up to the heat ( maybe I got some cheap stuff) |

I know PPG and Dupont auto body single stage and clear coat systems do well under hood. |
