75? 6lug rear in my 68
i found a mid 70`s 6 lug rear with 3.73 posi and the guy wants $100. i know i`ll need to get new mounting brackets but is this the same 6 lug bolt pattern as my 68? can they be upgraded to 5 lug with just a axle swap? thanks

If it truely is a mid 70s 6 lug, it's a 4x4 rear. Yes the bolt pattern is the same as 68, and yes, you can switch to 5 lug axles out of a similar vintage 2wd axle. I personally went the other way and switched 6 lug 4x4 axles into a 5 lug 2wd housing.

thanks TX. i thought the 6 lugs were 3/4 ton in the mid 70`s but now that i think about it, i remember that my buddy`s 4x4 1/2 ton was 6 lug and swapped to a 3/4 ton that was 8 lug. do you think $100 is a good price? thanks again.
