It's time to insure the 66 (need input)

The build is almost complete and it time to pick a insurance company. Would like to know what companies you guys have used and the good and bad of them.

I wouldn't insure it if i was the company, looks too nice, if it got totaled it'd bankrupt the ins company!

I used hagerty, pretty much need a perfect driving record. My wife has a state farm policy from when she was in DE (in OH now) and it's super low to put crazy agreed value coverage on my classics, so i put them on hers (add them on to her regular policy.) Like one car for 25K agreed value is like $20 a month. But only because of some weird policy deal she got from living in DE that isn't available everywhere. Have no idea of the details, i don't ask questions.

Very inexpensive, and you name the value. Only trick is it must be garaged and not your daily driver, you will have to provide proof you have another vehicle.

I got my classics insured thru Farmers on a special "antique and collector's policy, very reasonable and similar stipulations to what R W just posted

American Family, I have everything insured through them. My 56 Chevy Belair is insured for 30k at around $200 a year and I can drive it daily. Never had any problems with claims. 23 years

i use ryan anderon from simmions insurance , he does alot of full custom trucks
( he owns a bagged and body dropped fullsize chevy )
he does my full insure package of 6 trucks and it cheap!!!

I'm looking to change 2 cars from Travelers regular coverage(4 total covered), and have pretty much narrowed it down to Haggerty's or American Collectors. Their quotes offer higher limits at equal to-or-less premiums than Travelers.

I recently switched to secura, the rates were reasonable, they let me state the value of my 61 gmc

they also let me put comperehensive only on one vehicle, to guard it against theft and fire damage (car that never ever gets driven)

I use Hagerty, you can set the value, and they paid as they said they would when mine was totaled.
There rates did just go up but check them out. You can do a quote online.

Went through my gal at allied insurance and they work with american collectors. I pay $90 a year for $5k agreed upon value. Yes, it has to be garaged. No, it can't be daily driven. I don't like all of the restrictions they have; I'd like to drive it tow work once in a while. But other than that, they've been good so far.

Thanks for all the input. I checked with my insurance company Hartford $550 at
$35000 value $1000 deductible I have (4) rigs and my home with them I think that's high.
Checking with a few other companies.

Got a quote from Hagerty for $515 that's with a $1000 deductible. They and most of the companies look at my truck as modified because of the engine (454)

Go with GRUNDY. No hassles if you ever have a claim. Pay on a stated value. No questions asked, and you don't have to have all your other vehicles with them.

Kieth, I've seen quite a variation in Hagerty's rates, as well as unexplained similarities--maybe due to different rates among the states? Just for comparison, I asked them about 2-3 months back for a quote on a $20000 value unit(retro 66 C-10) and a second unit. They quoted ~$290 on the C-10--includes $300K liability limit, a multi-vehicle discount, their Plus Plan to include 1st $50 towing plus(???), plus $750 spare parts(?), uninsured motorists, under-insured motorists, and zero deductibles.

I'd expect more premium-difference between your $35K value and my $20K value, wouldn't you? Looks like they figured them about the same.

Mine is insured with Chubb. I don't remember all the details, but I have it insured for $8k at the moment. My wife works in insurance, & Chubb was the classic auto insurance provider for her previous employer. So, she had it set up through them. Just another you might wanna check with.
