Wheel help - 8 lug steel?
Hi all, I've got a 72 GMC 3/4 ton that's in need of some new tires. The wheels on the truck now are 16.5" and it seems very hard to find tires for unless you go with an all season or off-road style tread pattern.
I would like to put some kind of steel wheel on there, something that looks stock in the 16" range and more of a street tire tread pattern. Any ideas where to find, look for 16" 8 lug steel wheels? Thanks!

Re: Wheel help - 8 lug steel?
I am painting a set of early to mid 70's 16 inch for use on my 67 C20, plan on using the same era caps and beauty rings. I believe everything up to the 90's will work as far as steel wheels, I have mid 2000's chrome wheels on it right now, I just can't run the hub caps because the lugs are metric.

Late 80's to mid 90's F*rd rims work well.
Like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/92-93-94-95-...38040e&vxp=mtr Most are 16 x 7" wide. Make sure the bolt pattern is 8 x 6.5

Re: Wheel help - 8 lug steel?
Thanks all. I just went down to the local OK tire shop and bought some used Ford wheels like above. Got the new treads on already! Drives way better than the old beaters that were on there.

Re: Wheel help - 8 lug steel?
Will do. I might paint them up tonight. Another question...can you put the beauty rings over wheels weights?

Re: Wheel help - 8 lug steel?
The ones I have seen, yes. The weights go on the outermost lip, and the trim rings grip the first step-down of the rim. Sure screws up the paint though, but as long as the trim rings are on, no one will notice.
