Electric choke
I am getting ready to fire up the engine tomorrow morning and am wondering if it is okay to run the 12v for the choke off of the non fused ignition wire going to the HEI???

i would say no.....but.....the wrose thing is you won't get 12 volts to your dizzy
 to just fire it up go for it......

How would he not get 12 volts anymore? Doesn't that violate some fundamental electrical engineering principals? Regardless, it's still sound advice. It's okay just for "tinkering around", but I wouldn't do it long term. I like to keep my dizzy's feed nice and simple.

The dizzy still will be simple??? I have the wire going to the HEI from the fuse box ignition nonfused like Im supposed to?? I am just wondering if the choke needs 12V always or just with the ignition??

it needs 12 volts switched .........other wise the little coil will be heated up all the time.....not good.......
don't really know what amp draw that thing pull's ....but it's going to be changing depending how cold it is and stuff...

A friend told me that some electric chokes have a built in fuse type thing, resistor maybe? Anyway, others don't and need a fuse. If I were you I would check with the manufacturer of the carb. Definitely needs to be switched.

Its a Holley 600CFM. About a year old I guess?
I found a good post: Auto Choke I guess I have it hooked up right already!!
