Paint the Top White or Not

Thinking about painting the top of the cab white. I've simulated the look with white duct tape. I like the look...like to hear what you think.

How much paint is the duct tape going to remove?

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully it won't remove to much. I don't plan on leaving it on very long...especially in the sun. My paint job is crap, so if it does...Oh well.

BTW...I see in your build thread you have the molding that separates the bottom color from your white top on the back of the cab. Would let me know how far above the body line it sits? I'm going to install that molding after painting.

Re: Paint the Top White or Not

I'm a sucker for a white top. The cab that I'm swapping on my frame today has a white top with awesome patina. Your truck looks great with the white top. Kinda looks like a vinyl top for some reason

Re: Paint the Top White or Not

I'm leaning towards using white Plasiti-Dip. I can always go back to the solid look.

I like White but I'd stick with traditional paint though.

Just pulled it all off...no paint removed. Duct tape just left some adhesive behind. I'll clean that off when I prep for paint.

Go with the white, with plast-dip, vinyl or similar and you can always change back later...nice truck by the way.

Re: Paint the Top White or Not

Thanks guys for your votes. I'll be painting it soon. Picked up a used Craftsman 6HP 30 Gal 150psi 8.6 FCM compressor. Just recieved wall mounted inline air filter dryer and mini air filter that fit just before the gun regulator. Should be popping out the windshiled and back glass and doing the prep work next week. Before I paint I have to fix a few small rust spots above the front interior windshield seal and a couple rust spots on the rear window drivers side. Gona pick up a HVLP gun next week that will work well with the compressor. Should look better than the duck tape when done.
