Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
This is BIG!! Next month we will have a new casting to start collecting. Yes,it's a truck. Yes,it's a Chevy. What is it? It's a '67 Chevy SWB Fleetside! I didn't want to post pictures or a link because there was a notation about it being a trade secret and not to decimate. It has huge wheelhouses (tubs) and a big cowl hood. I think I'd like it better with a tonneau/bed cover so the tubs didn't show,but...cool truck!

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
like the square, but not the paint. wish HW would go back to the old school wheels when i was a kid in the 60's/70's. these modern "dub" rims don't do it for me

I don't care for it, but I'll probably end up with many versions over the next several years. Maybe it won't have the tub on future versions.

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
Yeah,I like the Custom 69 better. It's funny,as picky as I am about details,I don't care for the Hot Wheels that are obviously targeted at the adult collector and are ,maybe, too detailed...too accurate? I like the roll pan/custom grille rather than the "accurate bumpers and grille". They are $1 toys and I can accept them being off. It think these are too focussed on fitting the frame layin' baghead trend with the wheels "tucked". I like the full round wheels that fill out the width of the body on the Custom 69. These will grow on me and I'll be trying to get every version and doing my own customs.

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
Me too. Maybe it'll be like the '62; some will have a surfboard in the bed. It should have a small back window too. I'll be buying all I see.

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
You can always hope for a Real Riders version. That Flying Colors one had the early style 5-spokes. You could always do a chassis swap using those for donors. I'm with you, tires should have some "meat". I don't get the whole Ferrari profile on a truck thing at all. I'm hatin' on the gold rims, too. I get the feeling they don't make these just for me

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
^^^what you grew up with i think determines what you like. growing up, to me a HW had these rims & tires, nothing else-don't know why they changed a CLASSIC.
how can you not like them? and yes they have a nice meaty look. even a rig looks cool with 'em. picture them tires on the chevy's in the background i do like these rims & tires (if HW put these on everything i would be happy again) we dont get much Flying Colors at our W.mart, & me & my son only buy the domestic's so i would have a hard time taking one apart (about a thousand between the 2 of us, & we're not brand loyal, chev, mopar, ford, etc) when i was a kid though, we did paint them. my mom saved a few, including some i painted when i was 8 or 9, lost hundreds of origs in a house fire. see what crap on tv influenced this kid. since their 1st gen originals (all metal too), i thought about stripping & restoring them, but nah, i have pretty much nothing from growing up, kinda cool having something i painted as a kid almost 40 yrs ago |

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
Nice paint jobs. I only got one of the originals when they came out. It's the Mustang in gold. I painted the pan under the bumpers to match the paint and put flat black in the sunken areas on the hood scoop. I made it mine, even if it devalued it. How was a 13 year old kid supposed to know it would be worth more than his first real car when he grew up?

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
so true! i weep when i see what some go for, & we had & played & modified them without a care
i was lucky, i was born when HW came out, & my dad being a gearhead, loved them, & i ended up with a huge collection of them. i introduced my boy to HW's when he was 10 mins old, he loves them, & like my dad, his collection is bigger than mine. he also loves HW monster trucks, here's some of them jeez, it's been a couple yrs since i looked in his closet |

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
I'll wait and hope to grab some off the rack for a buck. If it seems like no luck then I'll go with Ebay. It's nuts to pay all the money for Ebay just because it's new. Seen it dozens of times. When that black Duece coupe w/flames came out they were selling at Carlisle for $5-15. I went home and bought five all at once for $5 at my local store.
I missed that Walmart HW Electric w/redlines last year. I just bought one on Ebay for a buck...w/shipping closer to $5. Also just bought the yellow & white Greenlight Cheyenne w/camper. Ebay is the only place I seem to find their stuff

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
Did you find those at the store? I hope to find them, but getting impatient,so saw one at the swap meet, and paid $5.I'm happy (till I find them in the store). I figure at least I didn't pay shipping. They have grown on me. Could shoulda this and that, but they are mice. I like them better than the (too big) Loc Riders

Re: Hot Wheels News Flash!!!
If anyone finds an extra red or orange one like above I would love to have one or more .I would take it to the bodyshop doing my truck and ask them when I get my real one back.

My Walmart rarely has the bins...if ever. I'm starting my search of Walmart,Toys R Us,K-Mart,Target,little kids' toy chests...
I want to do some custom colors, wheels,a 4wd,maybe even make a Stepside with a '69/'67 combination. I want lots of toys! Please??
