Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
Hey, thank you! ^_^
I'll be in AZ for work until the 28th, so the engine tucked away in the back of the garage being protected by the wife's RSX. I can't wait to get this thing buttoned up and in the truck! -Seth. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
My best advice is throw the budget out the window? I was on a budget 10,000.00 later my truck is days from being done. I can't even remember what my budget was, I do know it was way under 10 g's.

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
Beautiful! I wish I could have done a serpentine belt conversion like that. I hate how the alternator is mounted and shares a bolt with the thermostat housing. What are the specs. on the engine built?

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
I just noticed back on #48 you show the washer between the springs. I am sure you turned it over to do the final head bolt installation. Did you use arp bolts?

And yes, these are the supplies ARP head bolts/washers from Edelbrock. Grinding down the washers was Edelbrock's "official fix" for this know issue. See photo below for how I really feel about that. lol. Thanks! ^_^ |

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
I think he is referring to the Bevel in the inner diameter, it should be facing up, but in the picture its facing down, look at the prior pictures after you ground the washer, then look at it while its resting in the head..

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
So, right now I'm waiting on new fuel lines. I first attempted a steel line from the pump to connect the rubber lines at the carb and I just didn't like how it looked. I ordered SS braided line, Summit AN fittings and a Summit adjustable duel feed line with a gauge and it was such poor quality I returned it. Summit was very, very good about warranting their parts and sending me new parts at no cost to me. I'll let you know what I end up going with.

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
Got a new fuel line ordered, new oil pan, and ARP crank pulley bolt. I also pulled the power steering pump apart, which is ancient, and decided it was worth the $45 for a new one. I also ordered some crush washers for indexing spark plugs. Photos coming soon!

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
Yeah right lol, I highly doubt tour going to have problems in that department, I drove my 71 around on labor day and it road like a champ, got it back to the backyard and it went into limp mode so I decided to order a new wiring harness, the one I have is the original that came with the 6.0L, I had a company out of Erie, Pa rework it to work for my application but they left some wires exposed so from the gate it was a hack job, the computer was from a company out of michigan called Howell efi and they did a great job so now their going to build me a harness that will take about three weeks and that's enough time for me to get my bed built and tighten up a few things

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
Slow going getting everything hooked up. Between waiting on parts and the mosquito epidemic here it's tough to get anything done in the garage. I should be able to get really close to starting this weekend though.

Re: Budget Build Advice Wanted
Hey, all.
I tried starting the truck tonight and ran into a flooding carb issue. Does anyone have a 670 Holley Street Avenger on their truck? The secondary bowl float either isn't adjusted right, or is just simply not closing at all. I literally saw a 3 inch geyser of gas come out of the top of that carb. lol. Thanks. Seth |
