Visor keeps falling(rotating)

Hey all, quick question I'm sure someone knows the answer to.

My passenger visor keeps rotating down as I drive. I push it back up and withing a mile it is back down. Just halfway down but it is annoying me. Is there any adjustment on this I can make.

Re: Visor keeps falling(rotating)

can you swap visors (sides)? maybe with it facing the opposite direction you will be in a good area for it to hold.

Here's the PO's solution to that problem... its functional at least.

I'm subscribed in hopes that someone knows a more permanent (and proper) fix.

Re: Visor keeps falling(rotating)

I was serious with my suggestion. If you swap sides effectively the visor will sit 180 deg. from where it currently is. Maybe there will still be enough drag in that position. Of course I've never pulled the visors off so the mounting may be different but as a quick look I think they are the same.

I know you can be more creative than a stringed loop fix. Remove the screws and investigate. At worst end get some loop n velcro at the hardware and stick it to the roof.

Re: Visor keeps falling(rotating)

Had the same problem on my Barracuda.
Never had this problem on a truck ..yet..and I'm not sure you can take the shaft out of the visor.. but don't know why you wouldn't be able to.

My solution was to take the visor off the shaft, and rough it up with 80 grit paper.. just gave it something less smooth to grip.
Don't twist the shaft in the sandpaper, but draw it out of the paper straight.. like a knife out of a sheath.. this will give you lines along the shaft that will help it grab in the visor.

Re: Visor keeps falling(rotating)

You can put an ever so slight bend in the shaft, too. That will cause it to bind a bit in the visor, plus you don't have to remove the visor. Just don't overdue it or it will drive you nuts that the visor is bent....

Re: Visor keeps falling(rotating)

You can work the visor off the shaft with a little elbow grease I have done it several times and maybe you can slightly crimp the metal in the visor where the shaft goes in or try putting a little locktight on the shaft too.

Re: Visor keeps falling(rotating)

To wrap this up....

I removed the passenger visor to swap it with the driver side. When I had it out I remembered an earlier post and pulled the rod out of the visor. Inside there is a metal sleeve that I was able to "crimp" tighter. *** be sure to tape up the jaws of your pliers so it doesn't leave marks ***

Result is a visor that stays where it should. Thanks for the insight on this aggravating issue.

Every carpet shop has a sewing machine for binding carpets. They can re-sew your visor to tighten it up on the spindle. You just have to learn how to beg the seamstress..
