Got the 87 GMC SWB Going

I bought this truck about 6 months ago with a bad 4.3 tbi and it has been on the back burner for a while so I could part out a gang of trucks. I picked up a low mileage junk yard engine and finally finished installing it over the weekend. It runs great and is going in for the smog check tomorrow. If it passes, the fun will begin...3/5 drop, wheels and tires, interior upgrades, and a hidden hitch.

Re: Got the 87 GMC SWB Going

Yes, I'm keeping it a V6. I live 20 minutes away from town and hoping for 20+ mpg out of the 4.3. It passed smog with lots of room to spare and its now sporting 2014 CA tags. The 700R4 is shifting at too high RPM and it won't shift out of 1st when cold. I probably need to dial in the TV cable even though I unplugged it to pull the engine and plugged it back in the new engine without changing brackets.

Hopefully that will take care of the trans, I had a 700 do and and changed the oil, adjusted the TV and it was good. I think the 4.3 should be able to manage 20 mpg! I like 87s.

I will try to adjust over the weekend. I was looking at the factory rake and it looks like its close to 3". I think a 3/5 drop should level it out.
