Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
Is there a replacement for rubber between leaf springs and axle pad? I assume it is supposed to be there. Or what else can I use to replace or dimensions if replace with steel plate for a bit of lift.
Any info on this would be appreciated. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
I have never seen anything between a leaf spring and a spring perch, I wouldn't want anything in there either.

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
I've heard horror stories about people using hockey pucks as lift blocks. Could it be some type of homemade lift? Do you have any pictures?

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
I've been looking for replacement for years. White plastic ... I cut a bleach bottle one time.

Mine had some pads originally also, thought they were maybe Teflon or something like that. I used the tops off a plastic margarine tub and cut them to size. Some sort of anti friction pad I figure.

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
Mine are about 1/4" thick in squeezed in a steel C shaped cradle. There is a ring that slides on a hole in middle that slides into spring perch pad and the spring bolt goes in it for alignment.
I don't know if it is proper or not. Posted via Mobile Device |

Can you post a pic of what you have? It's been several years since I've done mine and to the best of my recollection that is not what I had.

Here is a pic. I think the other side is cleaner. Will take it tomorrow.

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
Rubber or plastic spacer or pad is a new one to me. You should have zero movement, or friction, between the leaf spring pack and the axle perch. I personally wouldn't run anything like that on mine. If you want to lift the rear end properly, you really have four options: a lift block (made of steel), 1" Zero Rate that attaches directly to the spring pack, add a leaf, or a full on set of lift springs.

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
Definitely NOT what I had. That is interesting, would actually give you a small lift. Maybe someone added that because the springs were sagging.

Re: Rubber spacer between rear axle/springs
I would remove that rubber. How do you tighten the u-bolts properly with that rubber pad compressing the entire time? May be an old aftermarket piece. Not around anymore for a good reason. Loose u-bolts = trouble.
