Well since I'm repainting my truck I'm think about ditching the flames and just doing a straight two tone with the same colors. I don't know I just cant decide, I like the flames but they seem kinda out of date and I'm wanting to take my build to the next level and I just don't know if the flame scheme is gonna help get it there... what are your thoughts and opinions

I think it looks good, as far as flames go, but if you're repainting it anyway, I'd say get rid of them. Flames are sort of dated, but they're dated to a period newer than the truck, so it's sort of caught between being vintage, and being something trendy (flames) that have gone out of style. And, yeah- I know flames have come and gone since the 50's or whatever, but when I see them now on a restored truck, I immediately assume the truck was done between 1999-2004 or so

Yeah its kinda tough for me to decide... I agree flame are dated but these are subtle and been on the truck for 6 years. its hard to change what my truck is kinda know by.

First of all, that is one sweet truck. I would drive that with pride, flames or no flames.

To each his own obviously, but if I was given the choice I would ditch them.

Ditch the flames. They don't look bad but I think your truck would look really good with a nice simple color sceme.

If it was me I'd ditch them, kinda an odd place to have 2 flames. But like was already stated its your truck and you have to be happy, I'd be happy with that paint on my truck any way of the week!

Thanks for the input guys I'm still up in the air about it but leaning I've been leaning towards no flames. I've still got a week or so to figure it out haha

There is no date to flames. They've been around for decades and always will be. This style of 2-tone is more of a dated style. Not saying they're outdated,yet,and certainly not hatin' on that. Just sayin',if anyone is concerned with a vehicle becoming dated,just look back. If it's something that "sticks" through the years it's classic and will always be.
As a matter of my own taste and my artistic eye,I'd lose those flames. I think it has a "hot" look and would consider the most faint pearl ghost flames of the front end or across the doors in a more traditional pattern. Subtle and tastefully done. I've seen trucks you can look at and never realize the flames are there in certain light.

Here's an example. The paint scheme looks stock at first. Then you realize the cream is more yellow than ivory and it's used in different places than factory. Doesn't even look like it should have flames. Doesn't look like it does! By the time you notice you alredy have an appreciation for the subtle touches this guy has done to have a truck that looks like others at first,yet is one of a kind custom:

I thought I had a picture that showed the flames,so it's kinda pointless showing that picture since you can't even see the flames,but that's kinda the point. They're there but they almost aren't. Silver would be real easy to do faint ghost flames with. You could do a slightly different shade,minor tint,same color w/more pearl,or different metallic

Very very very nice truck. If repainting, yes, ditch the flames - if for no other reason than you've already done them. When redoing an already custom paint job, I think it's a great idea to change things around, even if that means going to a more stock "looking" paint job. I like the idea of stock two tone, but with slightly custom colors on your truck. Looks awesome as is! But if repainting and trying to decide, yes, mix it up a little for yourself.

I would ditch the flames.If you do want flames do some ghost flames.I would think a stripe would be nice between the colors,maybe something that would pop,like a red or an orange.However I like the way the truck looks and those flames are not a bad touch.
