3-point Seatbelts
I've noticed in the "show me your interiors" thread that some people have the 3-point seatbelts installed, and most look like the factory type. I took a bench seat from a '93 Silverado which I am going to use in my '53 3100, and also the seatbelts. The belts are in good shape, and I'd like to use them as opposed to pricey aftermarket ones. The floor anchors seem to be easy enough to fab, but what about the upper mount on the side? Anybody have pics of how they mounted theirs? Thanks to all replies.

Re: 3-point Seatbelts
I used the factory seat belts out of my S10 Blazer donor vehicle, so I had the factory mount in the door pillars (read..... nut welded to sheetmetal). All you need to do is cut a piece of sheet metal about 2" by 4" and weld a nut in the middle. I put a wire hook through the metal plate and lowered it down inside the truck pillar where I wanted it. Then I used the bolt from the seat belt to hold it in place while I plug welded it in. simple.
the more difficult part for me was the Blazer lower portion was recessed into the pillar, so I had to build a box so that I could recess them in my pillar. A lot of factory seatbelts don't do that. I kinda liked it because I have a cleaner look now that the carpeting covers it all up. The bottom mount is just bolted to the floor using the same bolts as the seats. I don't have any pics of the upper mount, but you will get the idea from the mounted pic. |
