Transfer case swap questions
Im putting a 6.0 and 4l80 out of a 99 2500 into my 68 GMC and Im having trouble finding info on what the best transfer case option is. I have the 261 from the donor truck and was wondering if anyone has used it. Ive also seen the adapter kit from Advanced Adapters to go from a 4l80 to a 205. Wondering what the best option is. Thanks!

Re: Transfer case swap questions
The NP241 came behind 4L80Es in the '91 V series Suburbans and Crewcabs. I was thinking the later NP205 from behind a TH400 should work. Am I wrong?

Re: Transfer case swap questions
Let me suggest you ask this question in the Off Road section, since the set-up isn't specific to 67-72 and over there this is the language they talk

Re: Transfer case swap questions
Isn't the drop to the drivers side on all the independent suspension year models?

Re: Transfer case swap questions
To use any '88+ K-model transfer case changing front axle to Ford or Dodge w/passenger side drop is required. The '89-91 V-model 241s are the easiest way to go,with '89-cable driven speedo being the easiest, while keeping front axle stock...or any pre-88 GM. Adapting to an original 205 requires aftermarket adapter. Not real clear on whether some later round pattern t-case set-ups bolt-in. Gotta look at the spline count, length, and factory adapter for compatibility
