Re: Sign/badge on dashboard 3104 TF 1957

You know, I just realized that the mfgr serial number, other than the hyphen, complies with the standard VIN number for a '57 Chevy.
3A57L110831
3A = 3100 series.
57 = 1957
L = assembled in Los Angeles, CA
110831 = vehicle number 110,831 off the assembly line.

http://www.reocities.com/clarknorm/chevy57.html Most of the pictures are gone but if you scroll far enough you'll find VIN info.

If the voltage regulator is still installed on the firewall, you can often remove it to get a good idea of what the original paint looked like.

What is stamped after the contract number DA-20-113-ORD?

Edit: If you find someone with a subscription to fedlog or a cd/dvd version they might be able to help.

I have taken the doors of it (some minor rustrepair on the pillars), but no sign of another colour. But its defintly resprayed, the hood is a slightly darker tone...will look into engine bay area to see if i could find any clues there
Inside the cab, the paint flakes of the ceiling and shows of the primer (I think) which is light gray
After the contract number it says: 21938

I have a suspected ex-military suburban. I don't have any ID plates on it, but this was stenciled under the hood and also painted over on the firewall.Name: usaf.jpg
