Well, I managed to fix the miss I had between 2200-2500RPM. The circuit in my ECU that controls the ignition module has evidently been known to have problems with GM HEI 7&8-pin style modules. From what I can find, it's mostly the aftermarket modules. So I had to change the circuit around a little, not an uncommon modification. It's running really well now.

The automatic mixture correction was giving me fits when I would try to use it too, but I think I had my O2 controller authority turned up too high (100%). I guess I failed to notice that the Megamanual suggests 10%... Now that I got it turned down, it seems to work well. I've also got it set to "auto tune" the VE tables, so it should update and learn while I am driving.

I took it for a spin last night and if I hold the throttle constant on a flat piece of road, you can feel the motor surge slightly for a few seconds while the EGO correction (mixture) is searching for the solution, and then it just stops surging after I assume it decides what the motor needs and updates the VE table in that range. It's pretty cool really. I am really impressed with how it is running and performs. It's safe to say I've really enjoyed this fuel injection project.

I also got it on the alignment rack Saturday thanks to a buddy of mine that owns a body shop. You can see where I ended up in the picture. My personal alignment equipment that I use for race cars seems to be right on, and I do have a LOT of caster. So I'm not sure what's up with that. I'll share the results with Hotchkis, but I don't expect them to have a solution. I mean there's nothing they can do really, other than getting MY truck in THEIR garage to take a close look. I doubt they are interested in that enough to pay for it to happen. The truck drives fine, and with the power steering you don't notice the caster, you could steer it with your pinky finger. There are a couple solutions that I can think of, but for now I probably won't mess with it.

The door weatherstripping is really making me pull my hair out. I have to SLAM the doors to get them shut, and I HATE that. I had the GMC Paul's push-on type first, and then switched to the glue-on type. The glue on type is definitely slightly better, but it's still WAY too hard to shut the doors. I'm hoping with use that it will get better.

I think my next project will be getting a center console in the truck. I have one, but it's pretty rusty. I'm trying to decide if I should just blast and paint the one I have, or try to build a new one. I guess I could also do both. AND, I need to find some cushions to match my seats. I think I have a lead on some, member Hart_Rod is working with me on a trade.

I've got a couple oil leaks that need attention too. The transmission is leaking around the shift shafts going through the side of the case, and I've got an engine oil leak of the back-top of the motor. I suspect it's the stock oil pressure gauge line, but it could also very well be between the intake and block. Nothing too serious, so I'm not sure when I'll get to them. Although, they do make a little mess.

I enjoy getting her out on the road more and more every time. I was really nervous to start with. But as I get it running better and learn all the new sounds, noises, and feel I get more and more confident and have more and more fun.

Too awesome always enjoy the feedback you give on this truck wish you were closer and you could tell me how bad mine is looks to be coming together quite nice enjoy and get us some darn pictures of her.

As far as the weatherstripping goes mine was the same way you maybe want to run wd-40 in the latch and striker if they're original that has really helped mine out lately

How bad yours is??? Your truck is sweet, and you're doing some awesome work!

Good suggestion on the WD-40, that would probably help me out a lot actually. I need to give that a try, get it lubed up good. Thanks!

Hey, on the doors, literally spin the gear in the door latch about 90 deg. I had the same problem on my pass door. The inner gear gets worn (stays in the same spot) and never gets moved, so the catch doesnt catch as quick and hold as hard as it should. Go out and spin that sucker and see if it improves.

Thank you. looks wise I feel great but mechanically I've really fallen behind so I've had alot of catching up to do lately I.e.gaskets and grommets leaking wiring failing or grounding out so I've got a ways to go cant wait to do all new wiring

Quick question, how are the push-loc fuel hoses doing? Do you get any fuel smell from them? My braided lines permeate fuel and stick up my garage, so I an wondering if the push-loc hose is a better choice. Hope you're driving the tread off that thing!

I don't think I can complain, they seem to work well. It's a little stinky, but it's more like a rich half-burnt fuel smell. I've got some tuning issues to work out and I don't think it will be so bad. I really don't think I'm getting any raw fuel smell at all.

I suppose it is time for a little update..... I've been driving it a bit here and there. My biggest issue is getting the efi system tuned. I definitely make progress every time I take it out, but it's a slow process with plenty of hiccups along the way that I don't always understand. I've probably got a couple hundred miles on the truck so far.

I also had some oil leaks at first. The shift shafts on the transmission were leaking, so I had to pull the side cover off and put some new o-rings in it. It wasn't much fun, but it wasn't too bad. Then I had an engine oil leak, but it turns out I forgot to tighten one of the fittings in my oil pressure gauge line, so that was an easy fix but it made a bit of a mess before I figured it out. The end cover on my steering box also has a little leak, so I need to get a seal and retaining ring rounded up to fix that.

I pulled my rear hubs apart to tighten them up after running them around a while and the LR looked good, but my inner axle seal on the RR is evidently not doing it's job and there was oil in the hub. I don't think it's too big a deal, I don't think I ever had one race car that sealed up good on both sides either. But what concerned me is the oil had the silvery flakes in it, and seemed a little dirty. I'm not sure if it's just normal break-in stuff, or I've got a problem. I'll probably drain the differential before long and change the fluid out, if not pull the gears out completely for an inspection.

The door weatherstrip on this thing is bumming me out pretty bad. It's weird to do all the work I did and the thing giving me the most trouble is weatherstripping. It's embarrassing to me when I have to slam the doors shut everywhere I go. I hope they break in soon, it's driving me nuts and makes me not even want to drive it. I've looked at adjusting the doors, but I don't see anything I can really get away with as far as lining up with the rest of the cab.

I think next on my list is some taller lower ball joints. I want to get the front down another 1/2" to get some rake in the truck. I also need to adjust on the shift linkage a little, it hangs up on the 2-3 shift (1-2 normally), but I think it's just a cable adjustment issue. Otherwise the shifter setup seems to work really well.

I tried the push-on ones from GMC Paul's first, then ordered the glue on ones which ended up being Precision brand. The glue on ones are definitely better as far as getting the doors to shut. The push on ones are awesome as far as installation though. I wish I could have stuck with the push on seals.

I've heard a few others with the same problem. Mike/Cloud 9 being one of them. They ended up switching to "soft seal" (I think) and love them.

Hopefully they will work out for you. To be honest, they aren't THAT much different than the glue on ones. The glue on definitely offered an improvement, but I think if you have just a LITTLE more gap then I do, then they will probably be ok. They sure do go on sweet!

I got a little burnt out. Got the truck together enough to drive, so that's what I've been doing, just driving it. Still got some things that need work and I think I'm finally ready to work on it again.

As an update to the door seals.... I got both SoffSeal and Metro Supersoft brands to compare. I think it was the SoffSeal that appeared to be the thinnest and softest. I tracked down the majority of my problem to be at the bottom of the door, so I pulled up just that section since it wasn't glued and put the SoffSeal down there. The doors were still hard to shut. So, I just cut most of the precision stuff away and have been cruising around like that. It's not the fix I want, but at least I don't have to slam the doors everywhere I go.

I got taller QA1 lower ball joints for it too, but I haven't put them in yet. I need to get to work!
